I wondered in 1997 if some acts of violence could be motivated by frustrated individuals in AS.  Anyone read the Cobra Event by Richard Preston?  Tom Cole might be an Aspie.  What if he was a chemist instead?  Arsenic?  Heavy metals?

Now we have 9/11 and the X-Men trilogy (Dr. Magneto, a former concentration camp survivor, wants to kill all the non-mutant humans).  Wonder how long it is going to be before Al Qaeda gives school kids guns.

We had the Beltway sniper in 2002.  I was paranoid looking for white box trucks myself.  

We are getting off easy.  Thank you God.  There are enough hatemongers and AK-47s on this planet to have one every day until Jesus comes back.

There are some things I have wondered about, worried about.  Did West Nile Virus have any help getting here in 1999?  Mad cow?  We need to deploy the National Guard to several dozen kinds of tempting targets, not clobber other countries with F22s for their oil.

All the same, up to 1999, I wondered if it would actually come to this.  Not just isolated attacks by kids with guns.  Damn it!  We don't need to offend anyone in other countries.  We're offending people in the good old USA.  

What do police look for?  Means and motive.  God help us, that the motive does not find the means.

Something is scaring me but I don't want to say it here.

Why we need Jesus to come back: Sinners oppress other people, some of whom are sinners and lash out.

For 30,000 years we've had weapons that don't destroy all life on Earth.  The sword, the spear, the gun in the last millenium, nitroglycerin explosives for 150 years, chemical weapons for under 100 years, nuclear weapons for less than one man's lifetime.  The weapons have changed but people haven't.  Even if nukes aren't fired in my lifetime, what about some other century or millenium?  

When we start running out of gasoline, who's going to push the button?

If there is a pole shift around 2012 and only two billion people can be fed, who is going to push the button?

I am not scared for me.  I am saved.  But it makes me fear for the unsaved, and makes me want to preach.

I think people today are more ethical, but even if they weren't we wouldn't need to worry about nuclear weapons. Not even a megalomaniac would use nukes, because it would suicide; there opponent would simply retaliate.

Running out of fossil fuel wouldn't mean an apocalypse. Even if the hydrogen economy doesn't get off the ground we still have ethanol.

Could you explain this pole shift in more detail?

Sunday night, History Channel, Mayan prophecies and 2012 or titled something like that.  When the Earth is in between the sun and the center of the Milky Way galaxy on Dec. 21, 2012, one interpretation is that could cause the Earth to find a new north-south axis, a pole shift.  A slower pole shift would not be so bad, but if it took days or hours, we could have tsunamis, really fast winds, earthquakes, stuff.  Think I'll do Christmas in Denver or something that year, just in case.

Every 26,000 some years, the equinoxes shift such that we go from the Age of Aquarius all the way through Gemini, Cancer, Scorpio, Taurus, and so on back to the age of Aquarius.

Saw a really neat interpretation of it in the bok The Coming Global Superstorm.  Pisces was the most recent age, about 0 AD, and represented Jesus Christ because the Christians used a fish as an acronym for Jesus Christ in Greek.  

Before that, Aries, sign of the ram.  2000 BC.  The Jews, Moses, put a ram on the altar.

Before that, Taurus.  

The point is that the Sphinx in Egypt was built 8000 to 10000 years ago when Egypt had forests.  Not a desert.  If we ever dig under the Sphinx's paw and find a burial chamber, time capsule.... it might show that the world has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, legends of Atlantis and Mu, the Indian Bagavhad Gita, nuclear weapons depicted in it.

I would say nearly all of this stuff is very speculative, so no need to worry about it. Even if there was any substance to these theories, there wouldn't be anything we could do about it. There have been people predicting the end of the world for years now and guess what? We're still here.

I find it thoughroughly odd that this thread keeps being bounced up. The original post was a bad attempt at satire from 2004, and the thread hasn't become more insightful since then.
