Has anyone ever seen the Korean film Marathon? It's a true story about a 20 year old autistic man who becomes a marathon champion.
It's a very well liked movie in Korea but I'm not sure whether the movie would have a good portrayal of autistic people or not. I've never seen it before.
Here is the imdb link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448621/
The protagonist doesn't have Asperger's and doesn't seem very high functioning. He looks mentally challenged as well, but I'm not sure if that's true. Even if he is LFA, it's a unique portrayal since the typical portrayal of LFA is a silent person rocking at a corner.

Sorry, the trailer doesn't have subtitles and I can't speak or understand Korean to translate for you but the plot is simple so therefore it's easy to follow.
Is this an offensive or great way for portraying autistic people? If Marathon gets popular in the US or Europe I hope the movie doesn't make people think all autistics act like this guy, like how people used to think all autistics are Rainman before the autism epidemic.
I wish I could find the movie in subtitles somewhere though. I'll watch anything about people on the autistic spectrum since movies about people with ASD's are very rare.
