I wonder how 6 so twisted people come together.

No one said why they killed her.
I just would rather not have friends then. I could just meet people in coffee shops or malls and have my husband come pick me up.

Sorry, I mean that I could meet people who want to be friends or friends in coffee shops from already knowing them somewhere else. I don't meet new people in coffee shops. That is too scary.

That's horrible! Now I'm afraid of my friends.
I don't think they would do that to me but then again she probably didn't either.

That's pretty messed up, but I think it's unlikely to happen to any of us, if only statistically speaking. It can be hard to know if people really like you or not. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be fooled by six people who wanted to kill me, though.
I doubt those people were very interesting to be around, so maybe she just felt like she had to be their friends because they were (apparently) willing to be hers.
Anyway, I know how easy it is to relate to someone like this, but probably your friends aren't going to kill you. It's a sad situation, but hardly a pattern (until and unless a frenzy of media coverage makes it into one).

I wouldn't worry about this. If you read too much about crime, it will make you paranoid. A lot like, how medical students can be at risk of hypochondria after doing research for awhile.
These are people who should've been being looked after in a residential home or setting, IMO. If you are capable of dialing 911, in most cases that is what will help save your life. Even if you do it from a cell phone, if you leave the cell phone on they can follow the signal from it and find you. Also self-defense training can help too, but it's unlikely that if you're of sound enough mind to post here, you would be able to be taken advantage of like the woman from the story.
I would suggest you take a break from reading about crimes, and focus on something more positive. I mean, even I have to stop watching re-runs of Law & Order SVU after awhile because I'll become depressed by it, even though I think Olivia is such an inspiration.
This woman was in the care of someone who tried to sell her, unfortunately she was in trouble long before those other people became involved in her life. I think the best thing you can do, is to be greatful for the family and situation you're in. It's extremely rare for these types of crimes to happen, without at least one red flag.
