I took out an account on DevArt recently. It's at:

The first thing I posted was sorta a practice peice (just starting to learn Painter IX). I'm not crash hot on the composition, it grew a little at a time. But then I wasn't really deeply CARING about the composition LOL, I was having too much fun Smile Also, my computer at the time couldn't handle a big file, so I painted it as a very small file, then blew it up after getting more memory installed. Anyway, that's my excuse for all the sloppy bits in the blending!

The bird was a 4 hour break from my current work...just a little excercise. Blending the feathers was pretty cool, I like work like that. The branches stink, I might go  back and work more on it someday...NAH.

The meerkats are a detail of a large painting I've been working of for awhile. My step son and I were discussing his fav animals one day...meerkats, and we were wondering what they'd get up to if they had a day off from the zoo. This is the result of that conversation....weird where you get ideas, eh? It's coming along well, but slowly! I'll post the finished work...hopefully soon!

I'm so happy to have found digital painting...I get to have fun and don't have to worry about the kids running their fingers through my work while it dries! Eek!
practice piece??? talk about humble! your work is amazing!!!!!

well done.
Amy, thanks! I'm really happy you liked it Smile

I'd actually like to revisit the ocean theme (maybe a few times!) , because that's the sort of thing I really love. If I could sit all day by a tide pool I think that would be like heaven. I love the ocean!
Makes me wish i could draw/paint
Thanks for looking, ya'll

I should post some of my quick pieces at some point...mostly experiments with different media.

There's so much to learn with this program, it's very diff. from RL painting, but more fun somehow!
I love all your pictures, but somehow I just love the bird. Awesome!
Hi there, Uschi

I'm glad you liked the bird, do you realize that was the fastest thing I'd done (I think it was about 4 1/2 hours on a lazy Sunday).  Hey, maybe I should start making things that aren't so intensive, eh? I really starting to go stir crazy with that meerkat thing, keep having to shelve it for a break.

Thanks for taking a look!
I like the bright colours and the simplicity of the bird (even though the branches aren't perfect). But the meerkats are cute, I like the licorice and ice cream, quite silly
Well, somehow I love the red-winged blackbird, because it was the first bird I saw that was different when I came from Germany.

But my very favourite birds here are cardinals, blue jays and gold finches. And we get them all in our back yard.
Arr! I commented on the meercats, under the name of the mysterious MrZonko. >_>

BTW, I love your avatar, it's cute!

The snazzdance.

Your work is absolutely amazing, can you find a career in it?
I would certainly try the zoo and gardens, you could also email a company in your country that makes greeting cards for example, as they must look for good artists too.
sassafrass, your paintings are amazing.  i love the solitary bird, too, and i think the david and goliath are better with the added background. somehow the blank space was distracting.
what about stamps?!  although that's really exclusive and competitive, but ... you're as good as the stamp artists in USA.

What you could do also, is design the special envelopes and materials that coordinate with the stamps... i knew a girl at university who did that as a job.  the first-issue materials or something...
(unless it's an american thing and they don't do that over in Australia...)
