And who is trustworthy enough to take these donations and buy the island then govern it?
What is the aspergian movement? was there ever such a term?

There was the aspergia website that had the dream of having an island, but it wasnt a movement. Just a website.

If you have serious intentions, do it properly.

Get a site, ask people to enrol, ask for contributions, register as a charity, and so on.
I find it interesting that you claim to be trustworthy yourself but yet we still don't have a clue who you are. I could claim to be trustworthy, but won't for one simple reason - I cannot take on the responsibility and would not be viewed as trustworthy by everyone.

The only way this could work is with someone completely 100% neutral.
Hi snake, you could get a free site, proboards are good, AFF started there and we got 100 members in about 3 weeks.

You said "Look at other civil rights movements. Did THEY hafta question who was trustworthy enough to lead them into battle?"

I think they did. People dont usually just leap into something. Also you need to take into account the nature of aspies and auties, if I was gonna live on an island I would want to know everything was very safe and secure.
"Nobody in todays world ever cares to try to make a difference, ever strives for a positive change."

Well this site is here as we are trying to make a positive change. People have protested against cure groups.
There is a trend to hold back intelligent thought in society in general.
But its not totally new, in China many years ago they killed all the scientists as they thought that science was creating problems.
The cursed one sounds quite cool.
Amy, doesn't sound very reassuring to live on a cursed island though.
Halloween day trips??
Yeah I suppose but I couldn't even watch a single horror movie till recently without bad nightmares and I'm almost 32. Wink

If they had a bunch of immature, apathetic, untrustworthy losers trying to establish everything, and they refused to acknowledge the scope of their problems, and could not trust in anyone to lead them, there would be no Israel.

Maybe that would be no bad thing.

Most people in the world today are fluent in English, and if not English then Spanish.

The Wikipedia page List of languages by number of speakers puts English and Spanish in 3rd and 4th place, after Chinese and Hindi. In fact if you go by the figures for native speakers, Spanish comes ahead of English.

Et les francophones? Est-ce qu'ils doivent tous apprendre l'anglais ou l'espanol?
Was ist mit Deutschsprecheren? Müssen sie alle Englisch oder Spanisch lernen?

I dont think there are any plans currently to make a self sustaining colony, but women are underdiagnosed, so the balance is not that far off in actuality.

The idea of all Autistic people in one place put a limitation on neru typicals, simply because they are NT is the same thing as any NTs giveing bias against an Autistic or aspie! I didn't have a great accepting and understanding childhood either, but I know enough to have realised by now that there just isn't one whole type of people that acts one same standard way.

I think it's discriminating to try and prevent any Nt's post of their thoughts about it, given that everyone diserves a right to reply anywhere and live anywhere. Stopping bad oppinions and actions is a good thing, but not stopping them completly for being themselves. They have to actualy do something wrong first. I also see an area with an Autistic majority as a good and ok thing, so long as the people involved don't go turn into the same thing they hate anyway.

Now wouldn't we like to know what a variety of people think about it or what? I think the first thing is to look for a big enough place that can develope over time and even grow. It's also very important to have the proper intentions, and I don't think 'weeding out' anyone really helps matters. And, if you think genetics are involved in an aspie being born, let me also use an example. Skin color can be passed down through the gene pool. Well sometimes there can be 8 or more generations without the brown color being handed down.

I'm part native American, so my sister is slightly tanned colored. I'm not, I look more scottish. I might someday have a kid with black hair and colored skin. So obviously, what's the point in trying to 'weed out' and stop people that might actualy benifit? Good NTs do egsist, really.

"The whole 'us against them' attitude."

Sorry, that doesn't make sufficient sense. "NT Oppression" =  "The whole 'us against them' attitude." That just doesn't seem like a well developed thought.

The dynamics of oppression are complex and often subtle. People who don't understand how it works, or who try hard not to understand and deny the obvious, often reject the whole idea out of ignorance.

So let me get this right Max, you think you are an oppression victim?

I havn't found very many people who are understanding, but a good number try to. I agree with a little of this "us against them" concept. It is an "us against them" if we want to rid the world of a certain type of people. Period. If some NTs want us gone, how are we being any different wanting all NTs gone? Same freaking thing.

I very much love the idea of an Autistic majority, and that some of us aspies can live peacefully in a home which would tolerate more of our difference from the norm types and where we can help each other reach our best potentials. I do not however, support the "all NTs are evil" concept.

If aspies have their own place then wanderful. I hope that it doesn't have to be so that some NT like child is born that they get told to be like aspies, prevented from working, and some others things that I'm sure some of us have dealt with vice versa. It's the same concept of "us against them" because in this case we are thinking of a "aspie against NT" type residence.
