T... children being too good looking (really that was cited as a cause!)
*lol* defenitely not my kid - the NT kid looks better than the autistic... even when not knowing bout aspergers, I always thought that brains and charms (mimic and good looks) were unfair dispensed at my kids  Even if that's a bit hyperbolical (both kids are quite clever and none is bad-looking), it has a bit of a truth.

I doubt there can be a "cure" for WS because it is caused by a deletion on chromosome 7. Can't exactly put that back.
There is a test, called FISH (flourescent in situ hybridization), which is done on a simple blood draw and which can identify that deletion, thereby giving a positive dx of WS. However, not everyone with WS tests positive (such as our daughter).
I would assume if they can test for it now simply by a blood draw, they will eventually be able to test for it in utero. The danger here is that, like autism, WS falls across a very broad spectrum of severity. Our daughter is on the mild end. Some WS children are profoundly *** and require heart surgery within weeks or months of birth.
There is no way of knowing ahead of time. But all WS children are very friendly, naturally happy personalities, and "pixie-faced" beautiful!
They don't to want to admit to themselves that autism can't be cured, so they are grasping at straws.
No, and it won't be proven either since autism is a genetic condition. Unfortunately once you say that, it opens up a whole Pandora's box of parents blaming each other for the birth of a child with autism. It also raises the spectre of genetic testing and eugenics.
