Same here. Bt has upgraded everyones internet to 1mb at least. But since our line is a fair distance form the telephone exchange. It can not go any faster than 512k. Why did my mum have to move? We were feets away from it at our old home. We also do not have Cable either at both places.
How about a Satelite link? donno about cost or speed.
I know a modification to WiFI that lets you link a house a few miles away with another house. So if they have a better quality line and have the internet. so you could 'borrow' their internet. But i doubte that will ever happen.
If i "borrowed" someone else's bandwidth i wouldn't be able to route my own IP blocks down it. Depending on their ISP i may be able to route outbound traffic to their connection but inbound traffic would still come down my 1mb line.
