Along the same lines as making laws, If you could choose any talent or gift, what would you choose?
I would choose to be able to help people laugh a little.
I am finding it hard tho, because i am depressed at the moment and shy, and i cannot remember jokes ( i looooove the monty python thread and wish i could contribute) and i drop the punchline at the wrong time or get distracted.
Sometimes laughing is scarey because looking at a laughing face is confusing. sometimes i sense desperation, so i want to help. Maybe I should choose another gift.....
What would you choose? Be as realistic or as impossible as you like.

I picked time travel, as it is the major thing that I want to do in life (even though its not theoretically possible).
There are 2 main reasons, one is to go back in time and see dolls and toys in the 1960's and 70's and 80's. To see them on shop shelves and to be able to buy them, and open the packaging and see them.
Ones that I remember, and ones that I saw as old toys, but never new toys.
*sigh*
The second reason is to go to some places I remember from childhood and see them how they were again, like seaside resorts that have changed so much. And outdoor swimming pools that have been ruined and demolished.
Recipe for a time machine
ingredients
1 sub-atomic size wormhole
99999999999 outwardly repelling particles
1 tough spaceship
1.take sub-atomic size wormhole and stuff with outwardly repelling particles
2.fly tough spaceship through enlarged wormhole avoiding being torn apart by extreme forces
3.spaceship will end up at some random point of spacetime
4.repeat until finding an interesting location
5.serve on a plate with a glass of coke

Lets examine them all
reading minds - That would be handy from a world domination point of view
casting spells - I can already do that and tend to avoid it like the plague due to the unstable nature of my thoughts
persuasion - 'You dont need to see his identification....' - hmm that could be useful but not as useful as reading minds
winning....anything - the lottery? Instant garuntee of money. Money has its uses...
telling stories - like any creative endeavour, for some reason you can never be as happy with your own stuff as you are appreciating other peoples
timetravel - Useful for making minor changes in the time line but I woudl probably just use it to live the rest of my life in teh 80s
making money - winning money is easier
accepting...... - and thats probably the most sensible of them all - since most of the above are all fantasy, its probably better just to accept what youve got.
I just put down some options from the top of my head
i really wanted people to enjoy choosing
and choosing again if you don't like what you chose in the first place
if you think of some particular gift that you have dreamed of, put that down- anything, silly or serious
sometimes it is better for me to accept i cannot have something
sometimes it is better for me to not accept and fight for what i dream of
and not be scared to choose
