Wow! Very interesting >>
In a small but startling preliminary new study, Texas researchers have found that after just three months, every one of a dozen children treated for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with the drug methylphenidate experienced a threefold increase in levels of chromosome abnormalities—occurrences associated with increased risks of cancer and other adverse health effects.
The authors said they undertook the study because, even though methylphenidate has been approved for human use for more than 50 years, “there are surprisingly few studies” in either animals or human beings “on the potential for serious side effects,” such as causing mutations and cancer.
Hmmmmmmmmm. Not good.
Just f***ing great! I only just get my diagnosis and am looking forward to possibly being able to fix some of the problems that prevent me being able to work effectively and now this !!
Hey, dont despair Wolfy! You may be able to use it as needed, like pain killers. i would not use it because of cardiovascular difficulties, but you may have no problem. Everyone is different after all. Maybe try L-tyrosine which is on the same chemical pathway? It had a mild calming focussing effect on me. good luck.

Wolfy, the doctors have prescribed Efexor for my dysthymia and Epilim as a mood stabiliser. They haven't removed all problems but at least help me hold down a full-time job so it could be worth asking the doctor about these medications.
