I know its only just over, but I had some ideas for a theme for 2006 and I will forget if I don't write them down!
Here are some ideas, please post any ideas, comments you have.
'End to ignorance'
'Celebrate our culture'
'Minority group-minority rights'
'Celebrate neurodiversity'
'Celebrate neurodiversity'
Gets my vote.

The problem with that one is that its sending a negative message, rather than a positive one.
"Celebrate our neuro-diversity"
"Nothing about us, without us"
We should say after a month of ideas on here, decide on the top 5 and then do an online poll for a 2 months, then the winner can be announced in September.
"Celebrate neuro-diversity" is my favourite of the others.
We should decide on the theme ASAP and start pressuring the media now, awareness takees time to achieve.
I don't want to rush into making a decision on the theme, as Lili says something important could develop over the next few months, and also this year we had criticism that not enough people could vote or suggest a theme.
When we make a poll I will post on other forums directing people to the APD site to be able to vote, in order that as many people as possible can give an input, or at least have that opportunity.
I went to a conference on independent living this week - here's a catchy phrase to use
"Make predjudice history"
What about
I'm Autistic Being Myself Is NOT Regressing.
Or
Autism: Self Expresing Is nto Regressing.
To elaborate on it, it could be like this -
'we do not need a cure, we are the cure'.
Not sure if thats what you had in mind Drifter.
I made banners for most of the phrases so far if anyone wants to see -

I can make one for your idea too Drifter, anyone can use them as a sig, or on a site etc.
Hi abscout
We did have a poll and celebrate neurodiversity was the winner.
We could work it into something like a logo so that it was easy to read.
I'll try and make a basic thing to show what I mean. Just throwing ideas around.
How does this look

Well I can't edit that image, so it would require a new image.
