Geneva Centre is a big agency that provides all kinds of services. They have one of the largest ASD conferences in North America in November of even years, with usually over 2000 people. They always include some of us peers as speakers. I was there in 2000 and 2004, along with Liane Holliday Willey, Temple Grandin, Stephen Wiltshire, Georges Huard, Matthew Savage and a lovely young aspie couple last fall.
The place has a website. I think the director is still Margaret Whelan.

I've been to a Summer Training Institute held in Halifax, NS by the Geneva Center for Autism back in 2003. The workshops were on integration/mainstreaming and building effective communication. I know this year's is on ABA.

I checked out their website, and it doesn't look like they have any services for older adults with AS at all. But of course, that shouldn't surprise me, even the Asperger's Society of Ontario only offers meetings and fun things for people up to 35. Too bad for me, I guess.

Its awful that they have such an age limit, I have seen that with local groups, as if adults don't exist.

I was asking about the Geneva Centre because I was wondering if I should seek a volunteer job there. I do like children. I would not like to approach them if their "treatments" were abusive.

Well, from what I found they sound fine, and might be doing a great job. It's just too bad that I am unable to find any support at all. I guess your best policy would be to send them an e-mail or call, and to make an appointment to talk to somebody and get a tour. A website can tell you anything they want you to believe, the best policy is to see for yourself and then make a decision. All the best!

Uschi, glad to hear that you checked it all out and there was a group. Hope you can get in. It's just a shame that they look at official vs. unofficial in such a way.

Please let us know how the adult group is when it starts. I assume that you have to pay a yearly membership fee. I hope you will like it.
I do not know if joining an adult group would help me. I mostly want help dealing with employers and job interviews and legal matters concerning my AS symptoms. I am sure they would have resources there. I guess it would be nice to have some friends as well in a group there.

The age limit for therapy and support in many Australian centres is basically 18.
