So, a few minutes ago just after installing Redhat linux 9 on this random box i had. I was trying to set it up as a server. But while using SSH to control it. It diconects all conections after a few minutes of being turned on.

The first time it happened. I thought it must of overheated. I tried pinging it, conecting to FTP ect.... No response. So i restarted the box. The second time it happened i was conected By SSH and FTP. While typing a command in SSH it just froze. Then a while later the FTP said the Remote machine disconected. Now i just turned it off. and thought that it might of been a security issue. I got windows to stay up longer than this. Actually for a day or so until i didn't need it on. Both server 2003 and 98se (same box, but on different occasions).

But any ideas On whats happening or how to solve. If you haven't already guessed. But i haven't got the monitor hooked up. I can, but that means taking it out of the closet. Re-wiring up with and use my desktop keyboard mouse and monitor.
Run a script from cron that pings your desktop machine. Get a sniffer running. See if it continues pinging after everything dies. Tell me what happens.
Well sorry for the lateness, I fell sick form my deseased little brother!

Well I think i have solved it.

Since i didn't know how to setup the cron stuff. I just Logon on locally wth just a keyboard. So i did it blindly, and got it pinging me. Then i conected with SSH and started the FTP and HTTP server.

Now, Lets see how long that lasts for.

And since i am still a newbie to linux. How do I setup FTP so it accesses the HTTP public directory. As this is my only way on transfering over data. And how do i start up an SQL server and setup accounts?

EDIT

It died!!!!! and no signs of being pinged either. I think it dies after runing on of the servers. I'll have to try and see that. But mind you, i think it stayed up longer than it ever did before.
