I have recently bought a network card, i tried using it in my oldest motherboard (currently in my second machine) and unfortunately the card didn't appear in the BIOS. I tried pushing the card into the slot as far as it could go, no effect, i tried another slot, also no effect. The motherboard is based on an old SiS chipset (5597 i believe). I tried the network card in another machine (only a couple of years old with an Intel chipset) and it appeared to the BIOS of the other machine straight away, so it narrows it down to motherboard problem, possibly the PCI bus being completely incompatible or something else relating to that
Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
