Greetings
It works to an extent
I was drunk and singing in kareoke and everythign last week
It's probably just down to the fact that Autistics and NT's alike have the same capacity to make an arse of themselves at the end of the day
Hmm - does that mean NT's are drunk all the time?

I wonder if it's because alcohol stops our higher brain functions from working so that we are less receptive to our environments and act more like the NT's around us?
Maybe it makes us 'stupid' enough to understand the world from their point of view?

Hmmm the article was pretty stupid I agree. Can't really be bothered to say much else...
...I'm off down the pub
Nah, I think this is one of those people who think that getting their kid as stoned as possible helps the situation and the child. I think I saw one about dope somewhere...

Was that in response to my post?

Didn't someone write a book called 'Rush Limbaugh(sp?) is a Big Fat Idiot'?
I think they might be right. The guy who wrote the article that leads to the RL link sounds pretty cool though...

I am pretty sure that this is how it used to work for me. I don't drink alcohol these days, but some years ago I used to drink a lot. When in social situations, drinking made it much easier for me to screen things out, particularly noise, and to focus on one thing - the person I was talking to at the time. Drinking also made it easier for me to maintain eye contact (not sure why).
- Or then again, maybe 'cos I was pissed, I just think that's how it was

That's what it does for me too Wanda. People have said in the past that I always become serious after a drink and I think it may be just that I can now pay attention to them without getting bored or not minding about having to sift through all of what they are saying just to get the information part out of them. (edit) Saying that though, most people go to the pub to relax and have a bit of a giggle so any interesting information is a bit thin on the ground and I usually have to bluff my way all their trivial rantings - wears me down
Downside is that I can 'hold my drink' and by the time I'm a little tipsy people around me are pissed as a fart
No winning sometimes :?

Getting drunk is supposed to help? I would assume that meant frequently, which is kinda stupid ne? Alcohol ruins bodies and all that jazz... hopefully we all know the downers and I don't have to explain.
Perhaps the person who said that should take a look at ward 17 (Freeman hospital Newcastle) to see what he was condemning them to. Ass monkey.

Hmmm. My dad who is an not autistic, says I shouldn't get drunk. LOL. Oh well, maybe all the pills I'm on.
But I ain't listening to some 1-ton right-wing, conservative, college dropout who has the title of "Doctor" and is on talk radio and claims to be the head of a fictional "inistitute" that probalay a pub and strip club were he gets drunk on the weekends or after his show. :x :x :x

Wasn't the article toungue-in-cheek?
As for getting drunk, surely half the advantage is that those you are intereacting with are also imbibing? NT's are able to overcome their primitive and anachronistic (language should have superceeded face licking, bum sniffing, and whatever it is NT's do to establish bonds) need for visual interacton when drunk; it's they who need help and should be permanently legless, it would make our world a better place (funnie anyway!).
But seriously, I once heard of the development of a (anti)shyness pill, and if simple ethanol can do this, surely compounds could be discovered which have the advantage without the side effects (though they can be fun too). Has anyone else heard of this?

NT doesn't mean stupid.
Yes, sorry. That didn't have quite the effect I wanted it to have. I put the word stupid as 'stupid' because I didn't mean thick, I only meant to imply that alcohol dulls our thinking to the extent that aspieness seems less obivious.
All my posts that week were somewhat vauge as I was feeling ill from exaustion (too bloody hot from weather!), I'll not post next time I'm feeling 'off' because I always manage to pee someone off whatever board I'm using. I really should have learnt by now

This Rush guy is a charlatan; he stole that getting drunk idea from me and I have the Panda to prove it. Everything else he says is just crap.
