My 7 ("and a half") year old son was dx at 6. I had always thought his uneven developmental milestones were due to his premature birth. Hw was followed by an army of Docs as a baby/toddler, but I was still surprised at the diagnosis.
We have avoided the bogus "alternative" treatments well and he only gets some speech and social skill help through his school which has been useful. I use "Social Skills Activities for Special Children" by Mannix a little at home. I find the best therapy for him is just talking with him. We talked about why Valdomort was a bad guy for about 9 months!
Anyway, I was pleased to find this site. I'm happy to see people who don't feel the need to be "fixed". My son is a funny little bird, but I wouldn't have him any other way. The way he sees the world is unique and interesting. He is one of the two loves of my life (he has a big sister, too, who is NT but also gifted)!
