I read the article and found it to be very interesting. I guess that should refute Jean M. Auel's portrayal of Neanderthals as primeval and old-fashioned compared to the Cro-Magnons (This refers to the Earth's Children series. Read some to see what I mean, especially The Clan of the Cave Bear.)

My great grandpa 10,000 generations ago was a neanderthal, lived in the old neighborhood of northern Europe
