If you could make any laws/rules you wanted, what would you make? Mine (ranging from silly to serious) :

*Ban gum and chewing tobbaco
*Ban ABA
*Ban standardized testing
*Every state must have a place like Hope House, where people with mental disabilites/differences can live in their own apartments but get the support they need
*Require all college to be free
*Require all health care to be free

Not sure what else...
*Tougher sentences for geography teachers.
1.     Declare all street gangs to be terrorist organizations and membership in such illegal

        2.   Sterilize anyone who fathers a child and is unwilling/unable to provide support if asked.

        3.   Sterilize any mother of a crack baby or FAS child.

        4.    Death sentence for anyone who knows he is HIV positive and infects a person without declaring his illness.

Hey, we have 6.5 billion people on this planet. It is time to cut the herd.

                                         Jerry Newport
2. Sterilize anyone who fathers a child and is unwilling/unable to provide support if asked.

Does this include fathers who didn't want to be fathers but the mother insisted that the baby be born thus messing up the fathers life permenantly because he doesn't have any say in the matter even though he is now expected to fork out hard earned money to pay for something he never wanted in the first place all whilst the mother is telling everyone what a rotten father he is? Perhaps they should both be sterilized for being so irresponsible and chuck the kid in care for having such poor parents? What if they are too poor to contribute or mentally deficiant in some way?

3. Sterilize any mother of a crack baby or FAS child.

...or we could remove the drug from the street by imprisoning the dealer that is pushing the drug or offer better counselling facilities for expectant mothers trying to give up the demon drink, maybe?

What would you say to someone who wanted to sterilise an Aspie in case their offspring was a burden to society?
I think they should round up all the neds and send them to the gas chambers.

(the term ned stands for non educated delinquent and outside Scotland they might be referred to as chavs or trendies) - these are the people who get drunk on cheap wine and engage in random acts of violence for no reason.

1.Safety Camera Partnership (UK) to be disbanded and all employees to be publicly flogged.
2.All politicians who have a legal background to be removed from office and publicly flogged.
3.All lawyers to be publicly flogged once a year with double rations for barristers, and triple rations for the no-win no-fee scum.
4.Wheelclamping to be made illegal, and all employees of ex-clamping firms to be publicly flogged.
5.Any firm charging finance at more than 5% over base rate to have it's directors all publicly flogged.
6.Tax breaks for any autistic individuals wishing to set-up private flogging firms.

And I'm deadly serious  Cool

They're the government group who operate speed cameras.

You see, if I drive to the city and break the speed limit by a small amount, I'll get fined (there are speed cameras everywhere). If I do it 4 times I'll lose my licence. BUT when I get to the city and I'm mugged by some low-life, nobody'll give a toss. If I get back home and my house has been burgled, nobody'll give a toss.

Welcome to Blair's New Labour Utopia.

(Floggin's too good for 'em   )
Well, don't go standing in the middle of the road, Amy.
Yes, the secret is to catch-out generally law abiding people with a job and income, coz they'll pay up when the fine comes their way.

Governments don't make money out of catching criminals, you know!
"So i would say that they should be sent to an island where they won't be accepted into our country."

Strangely enough, that is what the UK did with criminals many years ago, sent them to Australia.
They colonized it and were very successful (albeit at the expense of the aborginal culture).
"Well, I'm not backing down. Amy you will have to do a lot better than that to convince me these 'chavs' are from the well-healed middle classes."

I don't really care what you think so I don't need to convince you

This is the Time Out section so we don't have to take it all seriously.
Finally, I'd just like to note that the type of society we live in is actually determined by how much humanity we employ in dealing with the *most* unpleasant people in society.

What sort of society tolerates a pedophile moving back into the same street as their 10 year old victim of only 8 months prior because their sentence was less than 12 months and therfore by law aren't required to move out of the area? What sort of democracy is reponsible for only giving them 8 months to begin with? What sort of society holds a highter regard in law for the criminal than the victim?

The was no information provided to say whether or not the nonce was a chav so I apologise if this is a little off-topic Smile

My bus is full of "I used to drive but the cops took away my license" people. I'd rather have these "road cowboys" off the street and on my bus, somehow I feel safer knowing they are not behind, beside or in front of me while I'm driving.

You obviously know little about driving, and nothing about driving in the UK

Why do "safe" driving speeds come in 10mph increments?

Why is it "safe" to drive at 70mph on a motorway in rain and poor visibility, yet it's not "safe" to do so at 75mph in dry conditions?

Why should I drive at 20mph outside a school at 6 in the morning?

Why is it that if your house gets burgled, you'd consider yourself lucky if the police even turn up?

Think about it.

"Finally, I'd just like to note that the type of society we live in is actually determined by how much humanity we employ in dealing with the *most* unpleasant people in society."

Is it only or even mainly determined by that? I think that is just one philosophical viewpoint, and not a fact.
I think back in the old days capital punishment was formalised revenge  and prison was originally intended to stop justice from just being formalised revenge.
