so, I'm on facebook, IMing with some of my friends, who I'm going to visit in a few weeks, when I start getting annonymous messages through facebook's honesty box thingy. Through an unusually High amount of tolerance, for douchebaggery over the internet, I've managed to get this far in the conversation...

HER: You are inconsiderate snobbish and need to get a life

ME: erm. who is this, and who do you presume to be to feel you have the right to act like a total ***?

HER: Anyone has the right to say the truth you know and just saying that proves that im right

ME: I'm just wondering why you feel the need to flame me, when it would be so much easier to do it in person. and I'll admit I can come off as Inconsiderate and snobbish at times, but overall, I do the best I can with what I've got.

I'm still curious as to who you are.

HER:Well the "best you can" do is obviously not enough you ignorant man.

There is no way in hell id tell you who i am just so you can always bring it up

ME: so...you're saying that you interact with me on a daily basis?

HER: Just because you think someone doesnt make you automaticly right you know

ME: that sentence made no sense to me, sorry, could you rephrase that?

HER: you are such an arrogant prick

ME: I'm arrogant, because I had trouble understanding a sentence?

Honestly, what did I do to you?

HER:Im honestly surprised you havent figured it out yet. Your not nearly as smart as we give you credit for

ME:again, what have I done to you? Please be clear, my mind isn't all here tonight

HER: you did nothing better than destroy my faith in humanity

ME: Sorry that an 18 year old male with a mild autistic condition was where you put your faith in humanity. A bit mellowdramatic are we? Maybe if you'd stop being ignorant ***** you could do something with your lives.


HER:Or maybe you could

ME: I'm actually working on that thank you very much, not if you'l quit with your bitchtastic remarks, maybe we could get one with our lives

HER:I would if you'd let me

ME:*ahem* when you flamed me, you asked for it, now kindly quit being a ***, so we can get the *** on with our lives

HER:You didnt have to respond so really its your fault

ME:and you do not have to respond either. Do not blame your stupid actions on me. Please Leave Now

HER:You should know that as a woman i need to get the last word. Or maybe your brain isnt working anymore, its possible

ME:and you should know that as myself I don't tolerate stupidity, now kindly shut the *** up, so I can talk to my friends in peace. Thank you

HER:How do you know you wont be talking to me?

ME:I don't, but the thought did cross my mind repeatedly


So, apparently someone I interact with quite frequently enjoys flaming me over the internet.


Do you have any fun flaming experiences that you'd like to share?  or any opinions as to what could be going through whoever's this is mind?

I'm still getting flamed, but now I'm dishing back what I'm being served, and holding my own, because I'm fairly good at defending myself.  from flamers anyway

It sounds to me more like a troll has decided to insult you for fun, just to see what sort of reaction they can get... I'd just ignore them, personally.

I'm deeply considering it, though I think I've narrowed down who it could be....

It's really not worth it though, as you say.

just removed the application that provides annonymity, if she's that determined to flame/troll, at least I'll be able to tell who she is from here on out.

Wouldn't it just be easier to have a private profile?

Seriously Joe that just all looked like fun to me. I think you had good skills and I would use someone like that for practice and for laughs. Once you get the prospect of hurting their feelings out the way the upside is fun.

in the beginning it was actually quite a bit of fun, I don't mind a decent argument every now and then, but close to the end of the conversation, including portions that took place after I started the thread, really ticked me off.

Oh, OK. Sorry then. I guess we all have different perspectives. Theory of Mind. Sigh!

eh, either one's good. It's always nice to hear different perspective on something, even if you may not agree with them.  I'm am a bit pleased that I held my own so well agaist the troll though, even if the fight was quite taxing and annoying after a while.

To an extent I operate just the opposite, for me I treat a lot of things almost like I would a chess game.  I make my moves, so to speak, in ways that'll give me an opening that I can edge through.  Going in swinging i've never really been good at, usually I just get knocked back.  Dodging, and being subtle, or at least attempting to be clever, usually gets me much farther.

Given that there are a few rumours going round, I'd like to clarify that the above conversation took place by telephone!

My husband is a keen chess player, so I understand joesteel's metaphor. I hate arguing with someone who just wants a fight. It makes me feel quite ill.

On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoy intellectual debates on any subject whatever.

By 'intellectual' I mean 'involving the mind' as opposed to just hurling insults at the other party. I do not mean debates that only those with an IQ of 190+ could follow!
