Hi,

My special interest is about the history of the television series (my FAVORITE television series) Captain Kangaroo. I'm constantly gathering information about the series and am in the process of setting up my own web page/site. I met him in 1994, and he was the same gentle soul as on television.

Cool... will you post a link when it's done?

I've got one or two obscure-TV-show-websites of my own, but because I'm not particularly tech-savvy, they're just done through blogger.
I'd never, ever heard of 'Captain Kangaroo'! So I thought I'd better educate myself!

The theme music, Puffin' Billy I'd heard a million times as a child - it was the theme music to Children's Favourites on the radio (we didn't have a television until 1966).

Of course, Captain Kangaroo was never shown in Britain, which is why I'd never heard of it.
I have so many memories of Captain Kangaroo from about 1956 - 60... All those oddly, crudely semi-animated B&W songs like "Herkimer, the Lonely Doll" "Alfred, the Airsick Eagle" "Angus McFurgus McTavish Dundee" "The Horse in Striped Pajamas" "Big Rock Candy Mountain" "Today is Monday"

Good discussion HERE
My special interest was cages and I was thrilled when the Captain's new bunk was enclosd by fretwork, which to me looked like a cage. I wanted a beautiful caged bed just like his.  Also liked the exaggerated way he shook his keys and we all knew where to hang them.

I was fascinated to recently learn that one man, Gus Allegretti, played  Dancing Bear, Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit, Miss Frog, Grandfather Clock, Fred, The Magic Drawing Board, Flora and Albert, Dennis

I'm glad one guy talked them into pulling the Grandfather clock from the trash heap when the old set was torn down.

There are several clips from the show on youtube starting with the first show in 1955 up through a 7 part interview with Keeshan.
