I'm having the same 'problem' as Woman from mars. I have problems understanding many acronym's used on the forum. It's sometimes fun to guess. But a dictionary thread would come in handy.

So here I'm asking you all to bring and explain acronym's.

Would you please be so kind to contribute. (thought up on the spot is OK too, as far as I'm concernedBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin)

LMAO - Laughing my *** off

(Therefore, ROFLMAO is "rolling on the floor laughing my *** off")

well, you tell us one you don't understand, and we'll translate.

I know, but sometimes I don't feel like asking. For example when a thread is very dense and fast. I don't like the pausing in it for myself then. (Maybe a bit to shyShyBig GrinBig Grin)

And I thought a thread about it would be nice as a resource.

Thanks P...

Oh, now that this thread is here: I've seen AS used as an acronym for both Aspergers Syndrome and Autism Spectrum; this is very confusing and should stop if at all possible.

Also, next time you hear someone say 'ATM machine' or 'CD disk' please give them a smack from me.

I use AS for autistic spectrum (disorder). I don't like the D in ASD. In the beginning I happened to use the dutch acronym... Autistisch Spectrum Stoornis. Nobody complainedBig Grin. People on AFF are to kind. But I did notice myself after a while. So I stopped using that abreviation. (also because the word 'stoornis' means disorder/disturbance and I don't like that connotation either)

I do not like the word Syndrome. So I don't use AS for Asperger. I know syndrome means something 'neutral' in origin. But it is used for illnesses mostly. So it is not neutral to me.

BTW what does ATM stand for?

BTW 'BTW' stands for VAD in dutch.
OP, opening person??? I know it is the one that started the thread, but what is actually stands for?

And what does  <3  stand for????
This one puzzled me for a while as I thought; is it cold, or what?

BRB (thought it was some kind of version of BRRR; you say that here when it's cold) = be right back.
ATM can also mean A True Monotheist. That took me a wee while to figure out. He always writes that in his posts so it was therefore too *** obvious, guess I.

I thought OP was original poster.

Or when people say "I could care less" when they really mean "I couldn't care less"... That one makes me cringe whenever I see it. "ATM machine" is just redundant, but the aformentioned slip-up invalidates the entire argument that person tried to make.

That leaves the puzzle what this means:

B"H

There's something like "BEHOLD" in my mind when I see that....
