ok, well, my 360 has been overheating a LOT recently, and I thought that it was high time I cleaned it. so; interior shots.

Note; this was after a preliminary cleaning. hence the lack of massive dust balls, but the fact that there is still caked dust.

if anyone wants any specific part photo'd, just ask; I'll be running it as a bare cage from now on.

The bare, inner cage. this acts like a Faraday cage, and neutralises any and all radio waves.

Top cage removed.

Top cage and DVD drive removed.

DVD Drive details.

Power and Data cables for DVD Drive. note that it is a standard SATA cable, meaning that it should be possible to replace the damn thing with a quieter one.

Heat Duct removed. the duct directs airflow from the heatsinks over the three processors directly to the fans at the back.

Heatsinks.

Rear fans.

Standing up.

Shots in profile, with outer shell.
what warranty?

like hell I'm sending it in for a bleeding clean Big Grin

and my warranty period is waaaay over.
I shot my ps2 many times with a crossbow, the insides were pretty cool.  Nice to see it done with some fines.
yeah, its an early one.

was constantly overheating, but after I removed the 3" of dust, it's been fine.

I do intend to replace that damn DVD drive and the fans, make it inaudible...might even put it into a proper case, play with some watercooling (yeah, not gonna happen).

it did RRoD once, but that was from a powersurge; just reset it, it's been fine.

the reason I havent killed it yet though, is because I dont use the damn thing very often.

Computer games. far superior ¬_¬
urgh.

and THAT is the reason I dont play my 360 online, ever.

eheh....Q6600, ATi 3870, 3.3GB RAM...yeah, its...it's ok, I guess Tongue

but yeah, online is just better on the PC; easier server selection, easier to control (can't beat Mouse+Keyboard)
ah, good games, good games.

did you ever play System Shock, or Deus Ex? I highly recommend them...
trust me; it is superb. the graphics were....meh...even when it was released, but oh.my.god. what a game, what a story.

also, *looks left*, SW:KotOR2...and..uh.hold on.
Pika, I think that pictures are really sexy.
They could have a real bad influence on children and adolescents.
After all, this is a family program here, keep that in mind!
i'd never seen the inside of a 360 before...i guess i shouldn't be surprised (microsoft and all) but it basically just looks like a PC in there doesn't it? i guess the line is blurring between PC and Console, just as the line blurred between console and dvd player before it.x
is there any specific kind of cloth i should use when cleaning, i use those yellow household ones at the moment, im very paranoid about static and stuff though.
The first post on this thread makes me think "damn, MS are lazy - that's a PC in a fancy case"
Domo - knowing MS, there's possibly some kind of hardware signing. Check the xbox linux project for details on hardware mods.

As for the faraday cage: that's standard for nearly all hardware.
*modifies Richards 360 with some choice components >]*

And FF7 is clearly the superior game villains wise.

And i'm not biased honest.
Ultimecia was a Wiccan on her period.
Well my comp is cooled perfectly, but thats cuz it's just hi-tech enough to run OFP and SL/LS Tongue

Also I mostly have the side off cuz the damn thing always needs tinkering with.
