)I'm sick to death of the religion debate at this point, so I'll gloss over it here, but I also have to say that the very belief that 'homosexuality is a (negative) deviance' is a form of homophobia.
Where did that stupid word come from anyway? "Homophobia" means "fear of homosexuality", which some people may experience, but which is not the sin being committed against gays. There should be a word like homosexist, similar to racist or sexist. I know, who cares, right? Apparently I do.
Actually, a word that's pretty common (at least nowadays) around gay advocacy groups and academic discussions is almost exactly that - except it's "heterosexist", which I think was using the "hetero" because it's describing the implication that heterosexuality is superior. I also don't generally like the word homophobia, except in certain cases, and mainly when I use it is by convention rather than as the optimal word I'd choose.
But yeah, I like heterosexism better, as it also encompasses those who don't really fear gay people (while I'm sure in convoluted discussions about fear, anger, power structures etc the word fear could be rightly applied, for simplicity's sake I usually don't think of it as a fear unless it's obvious in the individual).

It's funny, but whenever I glance at your whale avatar, I see a very pale hand holding a black high heel.
Not sure what Freud would make of that... *grins*
*looks at it again...ponders...*
HEY! You're just trying to distract me so I'll forget about my ice cream!

Longevity doesn't necessarily equal authenticity.
We know that there are things in this universe that our 'five senses' cannot perceive; humans have invented all sorts of wonderful machines to detect them.
Some things will never be capturable by current machinery, like love, altruism, loathing; nobody can tell by looking at your chromosomes how you will react when your closest friend dies.
As for homosexuality; it is still possible to find schools of psychology that claim sex differences in mathematical ability! Psychology is hardly a good example of a science, -ology ending or no! It is as subjective as religion.
Wicca was invented about a hundred years ago, and most of the major Wiccan ceremonies have been ripped off from the Golden Dawn and adapted to use Pagan dieties. I wouldn't say it was all bunk, but it's certainly a diluted 2 day old tea bag of a cult.
Sexual deviance is how certain schools of psychology classify homosexuality. They have this theory about certain types of parenting can lead to someone being homosexual. You can agree or disagree with that how you choose, but it's still an accepted definiation. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate sexual diversity.
Korrigan and Atypical - I don't work on the same emotionally complex level as you do, and find emotionally laden communication to be tiring. Perhaps this is why I love to read research journals - no emotional content in them. In a discussion forum people always get emotional, which is why it might be nice to have a sub forum where the rule is that you leave ego and emotion at the door.
A liberal is a person who stand firmly two feet off the ground.

I can not see that Il667 compares homosexuality with pedophilia. I'm not 100% on it though. (He does not use the word pedophilia. I almost missed that he uses the word pedophile; + siamese twins. That is in itself a deviation).
Il667 has by his own admission stated that he thinks that homosexuality is a deviation (from the heterosexual norm I suppose). Someone has implied that Il667 therefore is to be labeled homophobic.

What cracked me up was that 'I am NOT emotional post'
Here are we, us aspies, supposed to be supreme on our logical thrones, arguing as to our own stereotypes, and forgetting, we don't all conform to it, and why should it be an ideal? I personally prefer to try my best to think logically, and to be honest, discard as much emotion as possible, I think that ol' vulcan thing has something going for it, but I don't expect others to, its MY ideal, I have no problem with people who display emotions, why should anyone have? I just find they cloud my judgement a lot.
