Aspies For Freedom

Full Version: Idea that my friend came up with

Greg (my friend) suggested to me during our IM conservation last night about my dream of visiting all 50 states and DC that I had since I was 16, he mentioned about doing my autism presentation at different colleges since they will pay the big money for it. I have done the presention on several occassions (all free) and it won two awards, but I have not thought of doing it for pay. I am planning on writing a book based on the presenation and include several of my writings in it and there is a good chance that I will end up dedicating the book to him, since he is the one that got me started. What does anyone thinks about it?

In case anyone is wondering, my autism program is called "Autism: The Myths, Realities, and the Autistic Culture."
That sounds like a very good idea to me.
Go for it!  It sounds like a good way to spread knowledge, accomplish your dream, and get some cash all at once.  A win-win-win scenario!
I can say this: If you come to the university I attend, I'll be there listening Smile

Go for it!
Sounds great - will you have a chaperone to go with you?... for company and support or are you that adventurous to go it alone?

What university do you attend? If they have a disabilty support services, talk to them about it and we can work something out.

It would end up being myself most likely. I might invite someone now and then.

I go to Wichita State University.  Being a state university, I'm sure it's got some sort of program; I'm getting evaluated for AS through the university come August.

I went to equity at my university and are having adjustments made. These are quiet room without class members for tests. Time out during tests, reduced study load, NO pink paper tests (words swim off the page for me). No academic penalty if I suffer a meltdown.

And this wil continue through to PhD and employment.
Hey, that's awesome!

Check the disability support services out and see what they say. PM me with more details. I know for sure that I will do Western Illinois University quite a bit and since it is my alma mater, I am doing that one for free.

Go for it! I don't know you personally but I'm very proud of you, seriously, I am. Because what you're going to do is something that'll never do, because I hate journeys that are forever, etc.

I hope you and friend go on this adventure to do autism presentations!

Good luck.Smile

I will invite Greg to come to several presentations. I hope that you are interested in seeing it sometime.

I don't live in the US, but I'm willing to spend every penny on flights to go and see your presentation.
