Firefox 3 is now available, and the Mozilla foundation are attempting to set a record for most downloads in a single day with it.

you can get it here
aawwwww... i'd have to switch to Windows via BootCamp for using it... but heck, I'll download it anyways, just to increment the counter... FOR THE HORDE++ Cool
I just downloaded it excitedly, but remembered too late that I don't like change. The button with arrows is a different colour, the wrong colour. And overall Firefox 3 looks sloppy and childish. Don't get it, it's crap.
I beg to differ. Firefox 3 is faster and more stable than FF2, in my opinion. It did break a couple of my extensions, but they're some "nonessential" ones. Besides, if you don't like it, you can always re install FF2. Smile
well, having used it for a couple of days...

it seems..lighter. things appear to load a little faster, and its less RAM hungry.
my essential extensions (adblock, noscript etc) all work fine, a couple broke, but meh. I was planning to turn them off anyway.

its a lot more stable; not a single crash yet.4
The good:

The state-saving of web pages is a really cool feature
Things generally seem less bloated
Javascript runs a lot faster

The bad:
Lots of extensions don't work
The default theme for OSX is freakin UGLY. Apparently, the Firefox team thought that the best way to make it "blend in with my computer's environment" was to make the top 1/8th of the screen some weird gray color.

The irrelevant:
The new security things, like malware detection and the new security dialog(Who really needs firefox to tell them that "amazon.com.tk" "might harm your computer"?)
I like it. I think it's a lot more aesthetically pleasing and I like how the pictures also zoom in and out. I've wanted that for quite awhile. I've only just downloaded it so that's just what I've noticed so far.

I was unaware that I could re install FF2, although i'm more used to it now so I probably won't change it.

I tried to download it for Linux, but remembered how much I hated installing tar.bz2 files.  Anything involving Terminal sets me on edge, b/c I can't afford to mess anything up on this laptop, since it's the only one I'll have for a while, and not many can say that they're using a 9 year old computer that they restored to the modern era.

I checked Synaptic Package Manager, to see if they had FF3 available, but it hasn't changed from the Beta/Release Candidate yet.  The Beta sucks up what little ram I have, and it looked really sloppy, I thought.
