this guy, who can take his oh-so-witty social commentary and shove it up his ***:
I found the "offending site" and had to join (ugh!) to read the comments section.  It seems that even the members didn't like what was posted-but not because it was offensive...just boring.  I liked this comment and wanted to share it with everyone at AFF...

Purrrgle from LJDrama Wrote:
Ok… so let me get this straight.
Because you are ignorant and unaware of the differences between auditory sequential thinking and visual spatial thinking, and because there is a community of people who are intelligent and are aware of the differences between auditory sequential thinking and visual spatial thinking (possibly because the community is for those with Asperger’s Syndrome, which has a high rate of visual spatial thinkers), you have decided that all members of this community are f*******s, a*****s and *** morons who are mentally deficient?

You seem to find the idea of different ways of thinking to be quite strange and dramatic. Need I point out that most mentally competent people over the age of about six appear to be able to comprehend that other human beings might think differently to them? Your lack of knowledge in the area of thought processing is a fascinating illustration of your own ignorance, which is amusing at best and pathetic at worst, not to mention extremely judgemental.

And just for the record: it is quite common for visual thinkers to think in written words. There is a higher liklihood that the individual suffered from chronic ear infections as a child than that the person is an internet junkie, although I suppose that it must be hard to comprehend that there are people out there that don’t spend every second of the day creating drama out of academia and broadcasting it on the world wide web…

I wonder if someone from AFF is Purrrgle....

No, she's from the LJ community.
Well, I commend her...whoever she is...because she put the person who posted that initial comment in their place-and still maintained an astute position.  With an attitude like hers, she can advocate for me anyday   .
Purrrgle is the person who posted the defense of my post. She's really sweet. Smile  Mine was the one that they were dissing...I was pretty angry at what they said about my post, but you know what? People suck, and I try as hard as I can to ignore their ignorance and stupidity.

By the way, I think LJDrama (viewing-wise) is appropriate for all ages. If you let your kids see it and explain WHY it is bad, it's fine. Censorship teaches NOTHING. I just think what they say is wrong. I think that censoring kids is not going to teach them ***. (I apologize for my language, I'm kind of pissy right now) I'm sorry, I just get VERY angry at recommendations of age-based censorship.
I wouldn't be linking to that porn either, mind you...I'm a forum mod myself, and I delete porn links all the time, so I know how it is.

I was saying that the LAWshould be changed to be more open-minded, that's all. I think that it's up to the individual whether something is inappropriate or not. It's not yourfault, it's the government's.
Of course, Dreamer. I can understand why Amy removed the links though, and that's what I said in the previous post that I made. That warning is just going to make them want to go there more (good ol' Reverse Psychology!). It's really sad how young people are infantilized, especially teenagers, whose sex drives have developed fairly well. It's going to take a long time for people to realize that kids have sexual feelings as well, but in order to make people realize, we're going to actually have to state things outright. All bigotry is originally accepted as "common sense," but after one reaches enlightenment, that old common sense becomes nonsense. I tend to be rather preachy and adamant about youth rights, especially since I'm a youth rights activist and feel very strongly about universal rights for all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, religions, backgrounds, neurotypes...you name it. People should be approached as individuals. That's my basis for being a human-rights activist.

About the LJDrama post itself, I was initially very upset about it, because the post that I made was directly insulted, so it personally affects me. I was furious...but then I resigned myself to the fact that people will be um...jerks. I can't stand ignorance, and I wish that people would simply open their minds and experience a world different from the one in which they inhabit, colored by ignorance and prejudice.
The law is still WRONG as it denies young people the right to sexual expression. I am agreeing with Dreamer once again. I agree that pedophilia is bad, but instead of just hiding kids from everything sexual, we should teach them how not to let adults exploit them, but also allow themselves to have sexual feelings. Education, not censorship, is the right way to go about things.
Agreed!  You can look at porn and not be subject to pedophiles, and again, you're right, most young guys are looking at porn. What about adults who look at porn? Does that automatically make them want to be porn stars? I admit to having looked at sexually charged material since I was around 10, and I had no desire to be sexually exploited by anyone. If someone tried to get me to do something like that, I'd tell my mom. Kids are more savvy than you think, and they're in touch with their bodies.
What has that got to do with censorship?
Did I SAY that pedophilia should be legal? No, I don't think so. I just think that young people (especially teenagers) should be able to look at porn. I don't advocate child pornography. Young people's civil rights are being violated in countries like Thailand, and they're not exactly up to date on youth empowerment in the first place. It is wrong to force anyone into prostitution, regardless of age. It's just wrong in the first place. What about teenagers and adolescents being able to have sex among themselves? And come on, a 15-year-old having sex with a 16-year-old really is no big deal. The age of consent draws an artificial line between them. It is unreasonable to deprive teenagers (I mainly speak about teenagers when I talk about sexuality, not five-year-olds who are usually uninterested in sex anyway) of their natural sexual drives. I know that some parents might be worried that their kids are having sex, but once puberty arises, it's unreasonable to think of your child as being perfectly innocent. Your baby will grow up, like it or not.

In short, if you can physically reproduce, then you should be able to have sex and look at porn.
Amy, I'm still not sure what point you're trying to make.

Speaking personally, my sex drive was highest at about age 13, and I had sexual interest many years before that.  Are kids really supposed to somehow supress their sexual feelings for over half a decade, whether it's through pornography or actual sex with other kids?

No kid is going to try, and if they're forced to supress it, they'd end up as pretty mentally distorted adults.
Agreed, Dreamer.

I think she's trying to say that letting kids look at porn invites pedophilia, and so does lowering the age of consent. But when I talk about young people, I'm mainly talking about teenagers and adolescents, not five-year-olds. I think she has a kid, so she might be worried that a pedophile might get her child. But allowing teens to look at porn doesn't exactly invite pedophilia.
US laws are stricter than most European laws, and some of them are downright ridiculous. The UK is one of the better countries for youth rights...I've researched such laws myself. I don't advocate child pornography one bit. I agree with you there. I just think that it should be ok for young people to buy and download porn and have sex, not have some adult try to seduce them into a relationship. Coercion is wrong, no matter what. If coercion is the issue, then why don't we focus on true rape and coercion rather than just porn itself? That's where the problem lies. Adults like to seduce young people because it's illegal and it gives them a power trip over the younger partner.

In addition, why is 18 the perfect age? It's arbitrary.
think it's 16 to have sex, and 18 to buy porn, although they really don't enforce things as much in Germany as much as they do in other countries, like *cough* the United States. I noticed countries who are weaker on "pedophilia" laws (I'm talking about those who are too hard on teenagers) tend to have fewer problems than really restrictive countries like the United States.
