I've been looking for a job for 2 years now and I have a lot of self-taught skills in the computer area but no employer will even look at me.  I've applied everywhere I can think of, followed up and still get nothing.  I would like to go back to college, but I can't afford it because I got no job.  Is there a better way of finding a job with someone in Raleigh, NC?  I'm real desperate for income here.

Some of my skills include:

(X)HTML
CSS
PHP
MySQL
Linux/Windows Administration
PC Repair
Networking
PC Troubleshooting
Software Installation
Hardware Installation

I did get one interview at a web design company, AltlanticBT, but I didn't never get hired because they wanted someone almost out of college.  I've tried contacting them again recently but now I get no response.

Does anyone here know of a company near Raleigh or in Raleigh looking for someone?  Even a part-time, internships would be ok.  Just something to get some income.

And just recently (about a year ago) I've turned to applying just where ever I could and I have still got nothing.  I've followed up as well.

Am I doing something wrong?  Help me find a job Sad
Hi,

Just a couple of things - which may or may not help.
Do you have a portfolio showcasing examples of your work that you can send out to employers? This could really help.

Are there any agencies you can try in the area?

Are you on the spectrum? If so are there any employment support organisations that might be able to help you?

Also, have you tried sending speculative CV's and asking for speculative interviews?

(btw I am not asking in a nagging way, I am just suggesting things that might possibly help. I appreciate that you may well already have tried all this).

I wish you well - I know that job hunting sucks.
Brings to mind Specialisterne in Denmark who hire and train people with ASD for computer careers.
Have you looked into getting a government education grant for college?  I don't know what they have these days but they used to have federal grants available based on your income. So,,, if you had no income you qualified for a full grant for college fees and books that didn't need to be paid back.
Here is a US government link with resources for education grants http://www.students.gov/STUGOVWebApp/Pub...tion=topic
I did have Financial Aid for college at one point, but I failed to many courses and lost it.  Something I regret to.  Well, life moves on I guess.  I may try to reapply for it when I get my own income and start filing taxes and see what happens.  Does anyone know someone who is in need of a part-time, full-time, intern in the computer field?  I just need an entry level job to get some income to pay for the CCNA and A+ certifications I am hoping to get.
