Yesterday, sunday I couldn't access AFF as the server couldn't be located. It happened last year too about the same time; due to hacking or something. I'd like to suggest a mail-chain to get the word out to the Members who'd want to know what's going on if/when this happens again.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing.

Good plan - In lieu of anything automated, would anyone like to put their names down for an email tree? I.e. One member keeps email details of two others, which each keep email details of two more, etc...

does anyone know who it was?

Finally back online.

Missed ya all lots!
Site was indeed offline, and as for an "email tree" it would be simpler to just send out mass emails.

This was not due to any malacious activity. Broken init.d script for apache on debian according to antiphase (the very generous individual who is currently donating the server space hosting the site).

That would work too - I just figured not everyone would be comfortable trusting one central person with their email address.

This way people can tell their close friends, and as long as one member of a circle of friends was linked back to the central people, the messages would filter down.

*grins* True as well - I just figured that he wouldn't have access to the email database if the site was down. Mass PMs work well for when the site is back up, though...

I remember the other day thinking: "What am I going to do online NOW??"
