(I have not read everyone else threads, yet pardon me if I'm being redundant).
This seems to me a case about when parents need to use some common sense.  It must not be a happy place for their son if he can't manage himself enough (or his parents can't manage him enough) to not bump into people.  This is not the same thing as a kid (or adult any age) blurting out or talking during mass making it hard to even hear - that happens all the time - or a kid running the aisles - this turns into a size issue - a little kid won't hurt anyone by running around.  Why did the parents let it come to this?  The parents will lose a civil liability case - if anyone gets hurt -  Coomon sense is not common.
As far as the disability act - I guess this church doesn't have a child room - where he could be however he needs to be - but not a danger to anyone - you know those (quiet rooms in some churches where kids scream but noone can hear) My church is too small to have one.
I feel terrible for the family that they have resorted to making their kid have to try to conform in a place unsuitable to him, (and visa versa - to tohers) just so they can go to church, I wish that they could afford or work out a way to leave him at home.

Did it not occur to the family that if their son's behaviour is that disruptive in that environment, it may be likely that he doesn't feel comfortable in that environment?

Why force anyone to go somewhere that they're not comfortable? If faith is that important to them, there must be other avenues where their son can worship at a level that is more comfortable for him.

That is what I thought right off the bat.

(lets remember that some churches are menat to be meditatie while others are louder - the code of conduct can include dancing and shouting amen or playing drums, electric guitar...
so pick a church that works for you and respect that culture as much as you are able -
yes no peeing in the floor allowed - yes to peeing in a diaper
meant to be meditative (typos)

Adam is over 6 feet tall, and weighs 235 lbs.; the church claims that Adam struck a child, that he runs out of church without warning, nearly knocking people down, and that he spits and urinates during church.

I would call this a consequence of bad parenting and not of autism. Therefore I can understand the church's position, although I couldn't care less. Churches are bunk anyway Wink

trying to keep any child under control in a church would be well nigh on impossible if they were a bit rebellious anyway. It must come across as very boring.

My experience of church was there were so many distracting noises. people coughing, papers rustling, people talking, fans whirring, traffic even the birds on the roof. Add to that pure boredom. I was sure glad to get out of there. Never suffered a meltdown though. From memory as a pre-school kid I was given a book on my obsession at the time to keep me entertained. This was on birds (the feathered kind).

And my sister (NT) was given a doll to play with. Just common sense used.
