The idea has been discussed on and off for years. Various objections and points have been made by each side, the topic keeps coming up occasionally. I would recommend the "Island" discussions for the most recent "practical" discussion.
If we don't want to be cured, why don't we organize our very own Aspie Republic? I think it would be worth a shot. If we all gathered in one place and organized our own country, the oppression would stop.
Are you going to volunteer for the army? Wherever you would try this (I'm not stupid enough to try it), the country that owns the land would just come over and KILL YOU for it.

I think a society consisting of only (neuro) typical people would not function. Just as I think that a society consisting of only aspies would function. The beauty, creativity and hardship is founded in the diversity. I don't believe in 'pure utopia's'. When you think up 'heaven', it can very well be 'hell' with golden bars.
And, purely practical. What if an NT child is born in an aspie family in an aspie state. Will it be exported for adoption. And will this state import aspie children from non-aspie states???? I really have problems with getting things too proper, too clean, too purified.

My first thought with the Island idea was to fund it by making it an aspie holiday retreat.
After all, unless someone has $300-400k lying around, we'll need a pre-established business model to fund it...

Try about $250,000 for an island, and about $10-30k for each building using sustainable materials such as papercrete. I've looked into it, and researched prices.
Of course the usual sort of resort would match the prices you've mentioned above, but a quiet yet interesting place on an island that isn't a tropical paradise is entirely possible, and anything more we can work towards once it's set up...
Vacation in Aspergia! It doesn't quite suck!
My problem is that I just don't enjoy vacations unless my perseverations get to kick in. So it had better be next to a brewery, a distillery, a historical fort or living history village, etc.

Ah, please forgive me Zakkie, I did'nt realize that there had been some steps towards "pricing-out" the concept. My estimates were based on a "traditional" resort complex.
*grins* No probs - and yeah, a traditional resort would be a long way out of our budget without the attention of a benevolent billionaire...
I'm having a go at building a little sustainable place myself at the moment - bought a property in the middle of nowhere, and I'm having fun researching compost toilets, power generation, building materials, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

My idea of a holiday home, is my computer with very high speed ADSL, fresh air, lots of fresh (raw) fruit and veg, a swimming pool, trees and perhaps a waterfall, and being able to close the door and be left alone.
I'll again point out that we need trustees/directors to setup a charitable trust or other entity and ask people to submit CVs/resumes in aspergian ideas or activism forums.......
Why can't they give us 500 million euros, and we could show them how it's done?
