One thing that I think of when it comes to collections is what happens with it when you lose interest in it and move on to another interest/collection? Does it end up in the garbage bin then or what happens with it?

depends on size.
I had to trash most of my computers, but I still have a load in my room.
my books are distributed between my room, the floor of my room, under my bed, on my windowsill, holding up part of a shelf, and the attic.
my games...? most of them are destroyed, because I never took care of them. I do now though.
my swords? mounted on the wall, or in the stand beside my bed for the sharp ones
