I'd have to agree with some of the points of this article.  It's been hard on my dad in particular because unlike my mom, he can't read me.  Only recently has he been accomodating of my SID...he was the one who'd say things like "No wonder none of the kids like you" and "You were an embarrassment".  He even told me I ruined his life once.

I had no understanding of what was socially appropriate...I would wander off with everyone and I had to be watched.  I hugged everybody...so my parents thought that I'd stop my behavior if they stopped hugging me.  Well...that made things worse because I thought they hated me.  Whoops.

So yeah I think autism's really hard on the parents too...then you get the siblings...etc.
