Put simply; no.
used to be active in a local forum, in the political and foreign affairs section, but i quit because it became dominated by racists and fascists patting each other on the back. I'm sure I'm a member of a couple of other forums that I've completely forgotten about.
I am a long time member of the horse.com forum Smile
I'm active in two hebrew forums. One for mixed couples and one for german language and culture.
I didn't ever find forums in my native language (german) interesting or useful.

I occasionally visit SheroesCentral, which was co-founded by one of my favorite authors, Tamora Pierce, but I don't go there very often.  I visit a Druidry forum about once a week (it's pretty inactive), to talk to other people about that stuff, since no one else really believes in it where I live.  Sad

Ah, if you have the time, could you give me an idea of your belief in Druidry, what does that entail, etc

Years ago, in a flurry of socializing, I joined dozens of forums and traveled to several states to their meetings. Mainly these were real life social clubs who used the forum to keep in touch the rest of the month and debate social issues, their on political movement for their cause, etc.

I left some of those forums due to the kind of people I dubbed "Bullhorns".  A few mean opinionated and very vocal people who would jump at the throat and delight in chewing up anyone who posted (other than a few of their friends). The sites ended up with mostly lurkers because others were either too timid with fear of being the next target of the Bullhorns or felt it wasn't worth the hassle.  So, forums that used to have hundreds of people chatting ended up with only a handful of people posting, tolerating only their own opinions.   The sad thing is, they made it look like the entire group was nasty because they were the loudest representatives.

The Motley Fool (financial advice)

My friend loaned me a stack of Motely Fool newsletters when I was wringing my hands about how to make elections for my 401K. I'm afraid I still don't understand that stuff well enough. I'm sure they give good advice. But they keep confusing me because they say certain choices would be "foolish", meaning "good".

I'm active all over the place... some fora I visit obsessively multiple times a day, some once a day, and some only occasionally or when I remember.

At the moment you'll find me here, on two Goodies fora, one for paganism, one for Australian Comedy in general but mainly Good News Weekish stuff, Craftster and I've just signed up on the Dangermouse forum, which has been down for a while but is up and running now.

Finding a forum that works really is pot luck - it needs to be on something that interests you, but also have a good bunch of people there, and for them to be posting often enough for it to be worthwhile coming back.  How the place is moderated can make or break the community, too - some places have to have every single post OKed by a mod before it appears, and unless you have mods on duty around the clock that's going to really slow the place down. There's some Australian-based forum for women with Aspergers, which SHOULD be totally the place for me to hang out, but there were about five posts total the first time I dropped in, and a fortnight later there were no new posts at all, and the one I'd left wasn't even approved yet.  I didn't bother going back.

There are other ones I'm a member of but don't visit so often, and they tend to be not so welcoming - lots of in-jokes, and just generally acting like people at a party who stand around in a circle talking and don't shuffle aside to let a new person into the conversation.

I post to alt.magick, and have to pull on my tin foil hat everytime.  Over the years I've been flamed right, left and centre, but learning how not to react to that, how not to let your ego be pulled into silly and unproductive behaviour, has been very worthwhile for me.  I've also had to deal with my own delusions, shed silly beliefs, and have been challenged to step my thinking up a gear whilst living in the moment.  I guess when you've grown up emotionally (somewhat) and have learned not to take yourself too seriously, there's no obligation to take anyone else too seriously either, and I feel more comfortable and happy in my skin.

That's what I talk about in my blog, 'Usenet and the Path of Practise'.

I like to hang out on one particular forum.

I'm not exactly "out" as having an ASD there, but the owner of the board knows it from another source.

It's a small group thats friendly.  Kind of annoying that most of the members are geographically located close (upstate NY state, US) and they have BBQ's and such that I'm too far removed from to enjoy -- well, I probably wouldn't enjoy the real life social problems, but whatever. (it's about an 11 hour drive) but it's a fun place.  It's not too heavily moded, but it IS moded to be a safe and inclusive place.

I hesitate to post a link until I ask.  I hope that is understood.
Not that it really matters; I can get sort of uptight sometimes, but the forum I go to is http://www.s0lidgr0und.org

(in addition to this one, of course.)
Yes, "Answerbag" - it's pretty cool actually and has lots of categories about different aspects of life.
