I can't iron either for similar reasons. When I was younger I was in cadets for 6 years and we had to and within the confines of the barracks I could somehow manage it but that was the same set up everywhere and other people doing it at the same time.
I just finished my first significant business trip though and have become keenly aware that there will be times I have to look nice. At home and abroad you can use the shower to steam things a bit and then pull down the shirt a bit. If you are in Europe you can also use those drying heaters in the bathrooms to nicely flatten an area.(They also work well when you are in an underwear deficit situation and need something clean in the am)
I would say if you have a decent income you could start thinking about paying someone to come in for a few hours a week and do the ironing as well as all those other things the brain just can't get the hang of. I know I am going to budget for a human like that next quarter.
