News here hasn't said a word about autistic.
Oh and the guy that's been arrested is his stepdad.
Shit marcia already said.
The investigation is in it's early stages as Marcia said, so I think suggesting it was a hate crime without all the info is premature, Flardox.
They won't be sentenced to death.  That only happens in America, Islamic countries, and some other exceptions around the world.
How do you know he is autistic? The article didn't even say. It mentioned he had a mind of an 18 month old which is beyond mental retardation.
I believe it was a mercy killing tbh.
There has been no mention in any BBC news report that the young man found murdered was autistic.
So they say nothing, then they say he is Autistic.

That cements my belief that classical Autism is bad, I mean..he was like as big as me and with the mind of an 18 month old? Good Gods.

Yeah, we don't like sensitive on this forum Tongue
Maybe Ian can be abit sensitive about that comment. Tongue
The fact she took me seriously is just the cutest thing.
Umm, yeah, the whole "no clue about sarcasm" thing? Pretty common with autism.

I'd like to note that having a mental age of 18 months would mean profound MR--but that autism would probably mess up the IQ score, skewing it much lower than it ought to be, thanks to problems with self-help skills. What mental age can't say, of course, is how happy he might have been, what sort of quality of life he had; think of an 18 month old child and ask yourself whether that person knows enough about the world to be happy... the answer's yes, obviously.

Autism+seizures is a bad combination--seizures mess up new learning, if there are too many of them; and new learning is what allows an autistic person to adjust to the world, especially when it comes to those self-help skills that stayed at the 18 month level for this guy. Actually, if you study severe seizure disorders--the type where you have multiple seizures every hour--you'll see that autism or no autism, they inevitably result in MR when they aren't controlled. People have actually resorted to neurosurgery to control seizures for that very reason... because they are so very much of a handicap to a child's development... but even neurosurgery isn't an option sometimes, and of course there's recovery time and re-learning involved.

Seizures = bad. For anyone, especially an autistic person. If you get regression during your teens, it's usually because of seizures.
Just a speculative thought - it's been mentioned that the mother is dead as well. Could it be that she killed the boy and then committed suicide? It would explain why the stepdad and the other boy were released.
It's a possibility, but there's no way they've completed their investigation at this point. There's probably lots more people to talk through and evidence to log and (admittedly) bureaucracy to pacify...
