What type of teacher makes a child miss part of recess, because their PARENT forgets to sign a form??  Answer:  My son's b*tch of a teacher..

Ms. Friedman,

Noah mentioned to me that you had him "sit on a log for 10 minutes" during recess yesterday, because I didn't sign the weekly form.  Why would you do that?!  It's not Noah's fault that I am the one who forgot to sign the weekly form, yet you punished him for it.

If you have an issue with a form that I forgot to sign, take it up with me..NOT my son.  You know how important it is for Noah to expend some of his energy and be able to have a break during the day.  This is wrong and I don't agree with your teaching methods.

Oh my....they have a reading log for my daughter, and they have marked her down a couple of times because I forgot to sign.  She was so upset.  But that is as close as I have gotten.  Sigh....I am sorry.

Why the hell does your son need a form signed for recess?

she held him in for part of recess, because i forgot to sign his "take home folder form."  It is this form that is in his folder that comes home on the weekends.  She emailed me back that it is her policy for all children and i straight up told her that her policy makes absolutely no sense.  I do not understand why kids are getting punished for something their parents forgot to do.

How frustrating, and irritating for you to be in power struggles with this new teacher-who seems to think that policy and forms are more important than children and their individual needs and feelings.
Taking away recess/'punishing' for this is silly and counterproductive for sure..

I'd probably sign the rest of the years worth of forms-in advance- and drop them off on her desk -but then, that's me- and possibly not very helpful advice for you.. Smile

I would let the kid be disciplined mercilessly, it will only make him stronger in the long run...  the harder you push the kid, the less you pay attention to their sensitivities, the stronger--and better-adjusted--they become.

(possible mockery of Dr. Phil-type advice)

...is the point of this policy making sure that you see the folder?  If that's the case an unsigned form would make your teacher assume that you didn't see it, and that would be the cause of the punishment, which makes sense but is still somewhat stupid as a policy.
