I googled it. It's Canadian and seems to be quite new - parts of the website aren't up and running yet.

No idea! I thought his/her post seemed a bit odd.
Sorry, I am not understanding the original psoters question at all. I read it twice, a dangling participle maybe?
When I read the name of this forum Aspies for freedom - I thought -now THAT is a good name - if my ds could be categorized as being one thing it would be a kid who needs freedom. I wouldv'e put the screen name as JohnforFreedom but didn't want to co-opt. This is a really good thing that goes on here.
What kind of data does Together for Autism need?
ah, my apologies AFF...(oh man, thats going to get ambiguous quickly..)
I dont know about TFA. never even heard of them.
What kind of data does Together for Autism need?
Oh, oh, i get it. I am helping a possible curbie group, am I? Well, to clear this little paranoia up, no i am not. The Reverse is happening here, i require data on THEM, to find out of they are curbie or not.
Huh? I am literally asking, what kind of data do you need? Your first post didn't make sense to me. Really. Just asking. Really. If you don't want to, that is fine too. I am a bit confused how my post could bring out a sarcastic answer. Can you answer my two posts that were legitimately just asking what data do you need?
It is going to get confusing for me if I keep learning about all the different groups out there. It's no wonder the "masses" are just picking Autism Speaks - it's the one they heard of. I still haevn;t checked out austism speaks but I will check out Together for Autism as I think they are from Canada and my aspie son wnats to know if we are going to move to Canada if Obama isn't nominated. :O)
I naturally as a parent used alot of the general techniques - without having read about them with all my kids. I sat back and watched, took notes (I did since they were born) how long they were fed, 7 minutes 1:11 AM, how long napped, etc., the results on their behavior based on being awakened due to outside forces, (baby sisiter has ballet) the results of them having sugar, in non-avoided food coloring, or the benieficial results of being a the park, or picnic lunches, on their health and attitudes. (I wasn't on the look out for anything -just since I was taking notes- (in a time/date/day calender) like a scientist -I could then look back and see patterns. Anyway, as it turns out being naturally like this (I know I sound wierd for having done this but after I became a mother, I noticed that if I didn't keep track I would lose track, and I ended up having 3 kids rather close together, and making a schedule for myself - based on my kids needs - not on mine - really made things very manageable). (&L:15 AM take a shower Being naturally a (I don't know what, scientist-type?), I was able to APPLY what I'd learned to impact Behavior after Analysis. But, I based it on Them, not me.(lucky me, our plan was for me to be a stay at home mom) Like to this day, they waske up with the sun and naturally go to sleep when it is dark... and they eat at 7AM, 12 noon and 4:30 Pm in the winter and earlier in the summer, depending on when the sun rises and sets.... natural biorythms. Anyway, my husband is very thankful that I am like this, as he thinks "ds" might be up a creek with a non-routine, inconsistent sort of mom.
Obviously, non empathetic people without an attachmet or love for a child can apply Negative or Adverse, or Punishing techniques and I would vehemently diasgaree with that. I think techniques should be used (any parenting or even so called scientific technique) to complement a child's natural path and personality and needs> I read a post recently on a really awful ABA.
Sorry still haven't looked up Together for Autism, but really curious now.
ABA= Applied Bevahior Analys which doesn't sound so bad does it?
its a escental perpose is this, teach poeples to act the oppisite of how there naturally inclined to act so they fit with society. again not so bad.
the question is how they do this, and that veries.
A training philosophy that's used alot on autistic children, and has alot scepticism from the autistic community. As said it's alot about how and why it's done that are issues surrounding it - is it first of all meant to learn practical life skills by prompting and rewards, or is it to force an autistic kid to play like a neurotypical or else get slapped?
I have to say, ALL kids have to be told/shown/modeled how to do practical things, like eating, going to the bathroom etc., and the best way to do it is with rewards, I don't think there is anything worng with that- I will say, I agree big time, that if a child isn't modeling behaviors typically after lots of prompting and using good and positive techniques, then certainly do not force them to. (it's me atypical)
Note that I tried to be neutral to ABA in general, but mentioned issues as to how it is practiced, as it has many times been practiced in a way that I believe most of those having replied to this thread would see was clearly wrong by the look of it.
Have you seen that picture of one of Lovaas child patients - an autistic girl who screams because she's receiving electric shocks through the floor monitored by her therapist?
Holy G*d in heaven save us all. I am sick to my stomach trying Not to imagine that such monsters exist.
Ivar/Erkolos, I did notice - you were very, very fair about it.
Going to look up together for autism right now...
I thought together for autism was a dating service
