Take a few minutes if you can and see if you can find the Bullsh*t episode that was on Showtime a year or two ago about PETA.  It was very interesting and a real eye-opener.

And I've heard her talk about the reasoning behind that barbecue thing.  It's really stupid.  No species that wants to perpetuate itself is going to eat its own members in any widespread fashion, but lots of species eat other species, and humans are built as omnivores.  This doesn't mean some people can't be vegetarians or vegans but the entire world isn't going to change into them and shouldn't have to (I used to be vegetarian and vegan, and I was never so evangelical about it as some of these people, I stopped for health reasons by the way because despite supplementation my health was a mess by the time I stopped).

Somehow, i don't think she would really mind her corpse being barbequed.  The IT manager at my school wants his body to be air-mailed to a cannabalistic tribe.

This is part one. The other two parts are available from the same user.

SwanGeese Thank you!  I cannot access YouTube from work so you totally did it for me!  Thank you!

Thanks, Natalie!  I enjoyed reading your rant; to the point, interesting and informative.  I look forward to any future installments. Smile

Are those your snakes in that brilliant photograph?  They are beautiful - posing for the camera in their "not-afraid" mood! Smile

Natalie Wrote:
Yes, those are a few of my snakes. The fatter ones are Kenyan Sand Boas and the black-and-white one is a Rosy Boa.

Rosy Boas are some of the nicest snakes I ever sold.  I managed a pet store for quite a few years, and I never, ever hesitated to pick them up.

I had many corn snakes, a couple of boas, and my favorite was my 5 foot savannah monitor.  We had to find her another home when she attempted to consume a small cat.  LOL!  Luckily there was glass inbetween!  We loved to leash her up and take her for a walk.

Meh, PETA wants to do good, but they just don't realize some fundamental things.

As I recall, someone associated with an animal rights group made comments about the deaths of some seal hunters, and placed the value of the seals, non-endangered animals, over the lives of those people.

I wish that guy would meet the families of those who died. He might not be so quick to place such a low value on human life.

Watch the video posted earlier in the thread.  I disagree.

Natalie Wrote:
Yeah, most Erycine boas, the group that Sand and Rosy Boas belong to, are considered to be "cute" by humans, because they are fossorial (they burrow) and have therefore evolved short faces and "grinning" mouths to help them survive underground. These characteristics are commonly perceived by humans as cute. I also have some other snakes that aren't as adorable.

(Mexican Black Kingsnake)

Not as cute, but being pure black definitely makes it look awesome!!!

What video are you referring to?

Earlier in the thread I suggested watching an episode of Bullsh*t that is about PETA.  Then someone was kind enough to post a link of it on the thread.  I believe it is broken down into 3 parts.

I wonder... what do Peta supporters do if they get infected with head lice?

That is a great question!  Or even bedbugs!  Or intestinal parasites!  (I could go on, but won't!)

My husband says he only eats things that can defend themselves (all animals, no veggies.)

Actually head lice is a huge problem.  People don't want to use chemicals on their kids heads.  There must be some other or herbal treatments that work.

Head lice are adaptive little buggers and they will often not die in the chemicals for lice anymore.

My little monster got them at a birthday party a few years ago.  The only way we got rid of them was to use the lice comb constantly for a long time and put the live ones in rubbing alcohol.  I tried putting the live ones in the lice killer stuff and they just crawled out....ugh.

It was one of the most traumatic experiences of our lives, I tell you!

(darn it, now I am itching)

I just found an interesting article about PETA

PETA Kills Pets
Even among animal lovers, euthanasia is a divisive issue.

The science and research to support this much is clear: When someone adopts a vegan diet, that person does more than save the lives of animals. That person helps save the future of our planet.

I still think we spend far too much time trying to save animals, which can defend themselves, and far too little saving the helpless plantlife.  I mean, what can the broccoli do to save itself?  Can it run?  No.  Does it have teeth?  No.  Does it have hooves to kick the heck out of you?  No.

Stop worrying about the animals.  SAVE THE PLANTS!

NOT PETA THREAD THING--NO BISCUIT!

On this thread we have discussed spiders, fleas, lice, and snakes.  Read back a bit.

And what do you mean by "No Biscuit"?

Goodness, I am not sure it is worth all this stress.  Really...

sounds like a commedy with a twist.
