Which, the 'Obama is the anti-Christ' statement or the "I ain't votin' for no woman or no [upstanding African-American citizen]' one?
wow, for a minute there I thought that you all were like agreeing with her...
{whew!}
I'll explain - I only read half way thru the 1st post- and then when I read your posts I had to go back and read the whole things.  What kind of newspaper was that in?

Sad thing is, that one bigoted person is like a LOT of people in the US.  Many people, when offered a person of color, a woman, or a "White Veteran War Prisoner Republican" they will choose the latter.  Whether I like it or not, I would guess that our next President is McCain.

Where was that crying smiley icon again?

Korrigan,
To be honest, I'd guess differently.  Smile

McCain is *very* much for the war, and the *vast* majority of Americans want to be *out* of Iraq! Add to that the fact that the Bush Administration is *finally* being seen as a dismal failure, and that McCain is pretty much just an extension of Bush, and you *don't* have a particularly strong GOP candidate...

Pika jedi , I agree with you on the Bush lite.
Korrigan, I tend to think that we americans are really past that, (black man bigotry) and that those that aren't want to pretend to be just this time so that maybe their feelings will follow their actions....
BobB - I agree with you - but I for one, did not vote for Mr. clinton and I sure won't be voting for Mrs.  They think it is owed to them....(in my opinion)
to follow Luai Lashire's very well put post.. I'd like to add that even if the democratic economic plan takes us down the one-way path to recession (already there but anyway) at least ehy might bankrupt us and we get some form of national healthcare.  (not for me, me and mine are well-off - it's the others I am worried about) yes, I know that I'm a dreamer - but I'm not the only one, I hope seomday you will join us....
I like Obama, but he did come off badly - he was talking sociology and forgot it is all politics.  I could see what he probably meant to say, but boy did he blow it! If only he had said people are really needing their deep religious beliefs right now, (and their guns in case the government rides even more roughshod over their rights!) because when times are bad, religion can give them hope to cling to.  but he didn't!
In what wealthy conservative region did you grow up?  (brought up in same) (still live in similar)
IMHO, there is not a snowball's chance in...that Obama will be elected.  If the Pennslyvania comments did not do it, his former Pastor did it.

The lack of unity with the Democratic voters will cause McCain to be President.  Well, that and racism and sexism.

(NOTICE I DID NOT SAY WHO I WOULD BE VOTING FOR, LOL)

As in 2000 and 2004, this will be an election for the Democrats to lose.  The Republicans know this, so they're staying out of the way of the Democrat self-destruction.

My husband said something similar today.  He also mentioned that McCain is having to spend nothing now, and will have a ton of money when the actual candidates are picked.

Why do Democrats eat their own children when it comes to political campaigns?  Year after year, I have been amazed at how the Democratic party manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.  Even when they "win" (Congress in 2006), they act afterwards as if they lost--c. f., do-nothing Congress of 2006.  The last Democrat who won a Presidential election essentially campaigned like a Republican.  Oddly enough, his business/commerce policies were remarkably Republican (old guard Republican, not neocon) in practice, too.

What comes to mind is not pretty.  But it involves someone screaming "ME, ME, ME, LOOK AT ME, YES AT ME, I AM IMPORTANT, LOOK AT ME!"

"My ideas are better than yours!  Neener neener"
