ATM, I'm sorry I inadvertantly drug you into a ruckuss.
*sighs* *hangs head*
Let me clarify a point that I made about "holy purposes." The fact that one person is created for a holy Purpose does not deny others their own Purpose. That seems to be a misunderstanding among some of you. To the contrary, fulfilling your mission helps others to fulfill theirs. There is nothing "spiritualizing" about that. It is reality.
All the best.
*sighs* And I'm supposed to be in forced retirement...

ATM, you may not have intended it that way, but long rants about the holy purpose of autistic people are damaging.
It appears that what you actually believe is that everyone has their own purpose, but if this is the case, there is no need to talk about an "autistic purpose" as a separate entity.
It is damaging to link autism to spirituality in a different way than other people are linked to spirituality - it implies that autistic people are something other than human.
This isn't meant as an attack on you personally - I quite like most of your posts. This is meant as an attack on the idea that autistics are "spiritually different" from other people. Is it possible for you to just say that everyone has their own purpose, and leave it at that?
You seem to spell half of the members' names on AFF in your own "special" way, and I think this is done--spitefully--on purpose.
Please correct this.
Your comments are purely and simply another personality attack.
I agree completely.
Batman, do not attack people on my behalf, especially for such a stupid reason. Why would I care how my name is spelled?
I don't condone stirring up trouble for no reason, but if you're going to, at least pick something worthwhile to complain about.
Lucie, I don't mind how you spell my name. Throw in a few silent q's if you like, I don't mind.
The shame of it all is that you two are actually quite similar in many ways. Ah well - for the sake of the forum, I'd recommend staying out of each others ways, or at least trying to avoid attacks on each other.
Don't take your misery out on others.
Lucie, there was no personal attack here - there was an observation that a fight was brewing over nothing.
This is the sort of thing I mean when I talk about you using emotional statements instead of factual statements - it's no good for anyone involved. If you're going to say you dislike someones behavior, say what it is you have an issue with - don't attack the person.
If people want to address anything I've said here, feel free. Otherwise, I think it's best we all just walk away from this thread - here be dragons.
I can be highly reactive, but I think the similarities stop there.
I do not wish to be seen as similar to Lucie1 in any other way.
You both separate people into "good people" and "bad people" categories for very minor reasons, you both find it difficult to keep emotional statements out of debates, and, as you've mentioned above, you're both very reactive.
The similarities are probably why you're at each others throats so often.
Anyways, I vaguely remember someone talking about aspie teachers somewhere in the distant past... Perhaps we should get the thread back to that.
Nah, not annoyed - just didn't feel like discussing this via PM, and I new you'd want to.
I'd love to, but for the colour change... Ah well, hopefully the thread can die the old-fashioned way...
I haven't posted for a while because I've been really busy on a teacher training course. I have virtually no free time during term time but as it's the holidays thought I'd better try and increase my post count.
I was offered, and I accepted, my first teaching post a couple of weeks ago. So from September I will be a teacher of mathematics at a comprehensive school in Chippenham, Wiltshire. I will be teaching 11 to 18 year olds. The interview went really well. I had to teach a lesson (Pythagoras Theorem to 12/13 year olds), have an informal chat with two members of staff and a formal interview with 3 members of staff (headteacher, deputy head and head of maths). I was pleasantly suprised about how it all went as usually I just go into 'overdrive mode' for interviews.
When they told me they'd like to offer me the post I must have stopped breathing for a few seconds. Absolutely shocked I was, especially since the teachers who taught me said that I would never get a job standing up in front of people.
Aspies 1 - 0 Teachers
One question that I'd like to know the answer to is:
Are there any other aspie teachers out there in cyberspace?
ATM: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be true to your calling. Well done.
All the best.
