well, thats...ridiculous.

she should fight it, its too over reaching, and she would probably win.
unless, of course, the judge is crook'ed
Here's another bog link thoroughly analyzing the subpoena: http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2008/0...nst_ne.php
I just posted about this: In the matter of Shoemaker v. Seidel; Court of public opinion; The Hon. Bugs Bunny Presiding.

A referece, of course, to the iconic tweety bird observation:

"He don't know me vewwy well, DO he?"

Let the ridicule commence!
Clifford Shoemaker - Soooooper Genius!

Here's a thought - was that a standard Acme supoena? (LMAO!!)

That's despicable!

Of course you realise this means war!

.......ummmmmm

See what you started, Graphic? *runs out the room to avoid the anvil*

Strange. That link set off the "scam website" caution alert on my security software.

Really? Hmmm. What software are you using? Macafee thinks I'm ok. It might possibly be my "PayPerPost" link.

It's also a first post by a new user.  Exercise caution.

Nope, just an irregular user with a new login. Graphictruth.com has been around from some time, my name is Bob King and I'm known here and there  by various people in the neurodiversity community, considering that I'm both aspy and multi, I'm kind of totally invested.

But I really don't write about it much, unless it's april and I'm helping roll that wheel uphill. Mostly I talk politics.

I'm kind of disappointed my blog didn't show up on the subpoena--would've been an honor! Tongue (And an annoyance, but that's probably the point of it. They're trying to annoy her into silence.) But then, I'm new and not all that much into the mercury controversy... it seems a trivial thing to me, obviously false, something on the order of people who deny the holocaust happened. All you need is some basic college-level biology, statistics, and anatomy/physiology, and it's transparently obvious that autism has nothing to do with mercury.

I know what you mean. Maybe we could start a "Me Too!" blogroll?

What a good idea! My web presence missed out as well, although I haven't participated at Kathy's site for some time.

I'll bet the blogroll ends up so long Shoemaker will wonder what he started!

Expensive, Lulu - but I like your thinking! Big Grin

Me too... and if I wasn't so damn broke! Hm. Godaddy.com regularly has domains for a 1.99, and if I wan't trying to sell some, I'd buy some.

But we could make t-shirts.

Callista,
New conspiracy theory: Mercury poisoning caused the Holocaust!  Big Grin

Any bets on whether the crackpots will buy it?  Wink

Subpoenas are sent to people by an attorney so that they could testify in court as a witness (in Kathleen Seidel's case, it would be as a material witness or possibly an expert witness), not to get the evidence. In order for the court to get the evidence, they need a warrant. The blog alone may not be admissible in court since it can be taken from any computer with internet access, but rather her own computer's hard drive.

According ot James Laidler it all began back in 1985, at least the idea that mercury could cause autism, but the thimerosal controversy and the MMR controversy is two different things - each one has it own page on wikipedia.

I think the Wakefield paper was published in 1998, not sure if there were much MMR controversy before that.

If I recall correctly - the controversy began when the Wakefield paper went into the Lancet (I think that was the name of the publication). If that was in 1998 I don't know. It was certainly mentioned recently during the hearing into Wakefield's conduct.

The thiomersal thing was more recent as far as I know. Generation Rescue was formed in 2004, but the idea may have been around as far back as 2001 - at an educated guess.

Ivar, GR was created as a result of the thiomersal - not the general mercury theory. It's why they crack the craps with vaccines.
