[/php]I do hope she learns to see her boy, not the "Makeover Project" she seems to be fixated on. Her book is named "Louder than Words". More than words is the name of the class the ABA people teach at UCLA and around the USA. I just got a letter that she Jenny McCartney will be the speaker at a local Autism/Asperger's Conference in my home town (Phoenix) organized by the Autism Society of America. Other sponsers of this event are Recovering Our Kids, DAN, ACT!-Today (az chapter) and ASU Autism/Asperger's Research Program. Don't it sound like a den of enlighten minds!! It makes me sick how these groups can get funds and organize. Blickie
Anyone want to plan a peaceful demonstration.
Here's the invitation: Special Workshop for Adults with Asperger's/High Functioning Autism May 3, 9-noon-see http://www.phxautism.org for more information

Is the CNN clip on You Tube?????
She probably doesn't know how to work this strange series of tubes.
My comment wasn't meant to be an insult, it was just one of those late-night brain farts that popped into my head when I saw that huge picture of her on the screen.
Beyond that comment, it actually got me thinking more deeply - I know that she used to be Playmate of the year, but I also know that men, in general, tend to prefer feminine traits in women. Jenny McCarthy has a square jaw, large chin, and strong cheekbones, which are traits normally associated with masculinity (this is not an insult, it is an observation). Her body also appears to have very little fat, another masculine characteristic.
Isn't it paradoxical, in a sense, that while scientific studies have repeatedly shown that heterosexual males prefer more feminine females in "real life", those who get paid to be beautiful (not just Jenny McCarthy, but nearly all supermodels and a sizable portion of actresses) show very few of those associated traits? Additionally, while men seem to lust over masculine-looking women in magazines, a similar-looking woman who used to be a man will almost invariably be rejected. Weird.
In case you're wondering, I find human sexuality to be fascinating (despite being asexual myself).
And I agree with that last statement.
People, let your feelings out if you need to, but do be civil about it.
No one is convinced of anything if they feel like they are being attacked.
That is what you're saying, right?
Morning, I assume you forgot how rude McCarthy was on Larry King? She's playing by that rule you and Joker are wanting put on the shelf (so to speak) - and it's WORKING.
That's why people like Bob, myself and other parties are angry. People who are as stupid as McCarthy don't understand civility. And yet she has the automatic bonus points of "celebrity".
Scary - and civility in that respect is like attacking a stone statue with a toothpick.
Joker, what about the curebie woman who came onto these forums and posted some bad comments insulting Gareth and Amy? I think her comments were not only uncalled for but very disrespectful of the time and effort the founders of this site have put in over the last several years.
The comments made her look far less intelligent than she probably was.
I think she might eventually have been banned.
It is just a shame that people often express anger when they are fearful. It is very understandable that Jenny McCarthy is fearful for the future of her son. If she could have said "I worry every day that my son won't be able to get a job when he grows up, be able to leave home, find a girlfriend if he wants one etc.", I think it would have come across better.
But then it wouldn't have made such an impact on a media that thrives on controversy and hyperbole. It's also likely that she has been indoctrinated by the
people in Autism Speaks and it is because they offer some kind of hope, no matter how misguided and even harmful their ideas are.
*ROTFLMAO*
That's it! You win, Morning! I can't top that one!
