Hello All,

I'm new.  I'm a proud Australian Mum to 3 sons - 2 diagnosed with Asperger's, third probably also Aspie.

Anyway, introduction over, here is an advertisment that played for a short time in Queensland Australia.

WELCOME!

Canberra here! I only spent one week in Queensland, three years ago. It was hot and humid!

I'm a mother of five, grandmother; and in a family full of Aspies!
Welcome!
Hi Helen and welcome to AFF. It's good to have you here.
I am in Adelaide, and mum of a 5yo aspie son and a 2yo darling daughter.
Hope you enjoy the boards. Smile
Asperger Day was my Birthday!!!

(according to that ad, anyways.)

For AS awareness, we weren't made very aware.
That ad contradicts itself. First it says that loads of famous scientists were aspie, then it insinuates that there ought to be a cure. Eh?
I took it to be saying to ppl that it is not something you can fix so please try to be understanding and tolerant. Smile
Nah didn't like it, I bet AFF peeps could have created a better message for the ad.

Lack of money!!  I was very disappointed that there seemed to be nothing in the media to mark International Asperger's Day .... and I live in Brisbane (Tony Attwood's city).

Stephanie Evans runs the Queensland Branch of Asperger Services Australia Asperger Services Australia

Stephanie has a 21 year old son with Asperger's.  She formed the group 15 years ago and runs the organisation full-time as a volunteer.

Stephanie told me they were only able to run the ad for a very short time due to lack of funds.  I never saw the ad on tv (to busy on the internet!) but she kindly e-mailed me the ad.

That's how I interpreted it. Stephanie Evans is definantly not a curebie!

Maybe.  But they can't do it all!

Thankyou everyone for your welcomes!

I will confess I am an avid WrongPlanet member.  I ran into Aspies For Freedom on Youtube - loved what I saw.

My sons are doing well now and I am wanting to focus some of my spare time on advocay. (not that I have much spare time!)

I gave a talk at work to coincide with International Asperger's Day.  I spoke to 100+ physios re Asperger's
