Hello fellow Aspies and Auties. I’m Joel Manion and as you know, I’m new to the group. But I agree with this organisation’s ideologies as I’m a strong supporter of Autistic Rights and against that so-called cure for Autism. As I know there has been a strong support for an Autistic state or homeland, but more as a real country. Now let’s be honest, that is very unlikely going to happen, but I think it be possible to create a cybernation like CyberYugoslavia, Aerica and Talossa.

So that’s why I created the Aspergian Zionist Movement, a group on Myspace planning and supporting the idea of creating the cybernation of Aspergia. This country would support the ideologies of AFF, which is the belief that Autism and Asperger Syndrome is a special neurological variation, not a disability, disease or ‘curse’. But the country would support the idea of Neurodiversity, so Neurotypicals would be allowed to become citizens but immigration would be stricter on them.

The best thing about it is that a good friend of mine would help me built the cybernation for the internet. It’s going to be a proper website, not like those hosted by Freeweb. The cybernation would be created around mid-summer but first I have to talk to Edan, the original creator of Aspergia (as a Autism website, not a cybernation) just to avoid getting sued. The Myspace group is in favour for Aspergia as a Federal Republic, probably with a Parliamentary System. But I know the hotbed for Aspergian Nationalists are Aspies for Freedom, so I joined this group to gain recruitments for the Aspergian Zionist Movement for support and contribution, especially for the Aspergian government. So I want you to send your thoughts and opinion for the AZM and suggestions for the cybernation.
How come?
Very briefly, because of the establishment and existence of the State of Israel are hardly uncontroversial.  Even if you were to ignore that aspect, the term itself carries religious meaning which is more likely to be exclusive than inclusive.

Why have you chosen to use "Zionist"?
Well, the word Zionism isn't just used by the Jews, it was also used by African-Americans who suported to return to Africa, which lead to the creation of Liberia. In the Matrix there is a city called Zion which is the only settlement where humans live in freedom from the rule of the machines. Basically the word Zionism is used as a movement of a creation for a homeland for a particualary group of people who united by their religion or ethnicity, or in this case, neurological variation. I know there is argument for the creation for Israel but I don't think it's highly unacceptable to use the word Zionist, which we creating a cybernation, not occupying real land. Also I started this thread to talk about the ideas, not the name of my group.

Fairy nuff!  You asked for thoughts and opinions and I've expressed mine.  I still feel the term is loaded and that the name of the group is relevant, but it's your thing so on you go...

Thanx 4 that shamshir 1218 Cool

Pikajedi4, I think Autfinity Island sound like a marvellous idea. I also looked on the website. But I have to admit I think there are problems standing in the way, mainly location and finance. I wanted a Autistic homeland to exist so thats why I'm planning to create a cybernation. Here are some of the current cybernations and the url in brackets.

-The Kingdom of Lovely (http://www.citizensrequired.com/unit/site/index.shtml)

-The Kingdom of Talossa (http://www.kingdomoftalossa.net/index.cgi)

- The Aerican Empire (http://www.aericanempire.com/)

but what benefits do they provide?

If we want to argue the point, you could argue that AFF and WP are like cybernations, in that they have VERY distinct personalities, atmospheres and cultures.

I know what you trying to say. But if the cybernation was created you would know what Autfinity Island become like in the future. Plus I have a deep interest for cybernations/micronations.
Would the term 'Aspergian Nationalist' be better?
Why not, "Aspergian Cybernation or Cybernational"?  That makes your intentions clear from the outset, and you don't have to explain the basic principle all the time...

The problem is that if I changed the name of my group it will cause confusion. Sad

Mmmm...true.  Sorry to be causing problems for you - not my intention.  Maybe it's just something to bear in mind as the project develops and there may come a point where a change, if there is one, would be more natural and helpful.

Btw, I googled Black Zionism and Liberia - very interesting!  I do understand why you're using the term - the whole idea of a homeland and somewhere for the diaspora to be safe, secure, free to express themselves fully and so on...

Good on you, and all the best! Smile

I too advise against the use of the word "Zionist." That word has far too many negative connotations to be used as the name of your movement. To me, Zionism is associated with the never ending conflict in the Mid-East, Palestinian refugee camps that have been established for 60 years, the illegal Jewish settlements in the Palestinian territories, etc. If you were to use the word "Zionist" in your organization's mission, then you would lose the support of many who would otherwise support you fully.
Joel, maybe you should request that the moderators lock the thread?

Thats what I did!

I just reported the thread, and asked that the mods lock it for you.  Maybe it just got lost in the shuffle.

And Korrigan, please don't take the exclamation mark as offence.

Oh, no worries, I did not.  I took it as you being frustrated.  Happens to all of us sometimes.
