This is the first major news medium that I've seen discuss the pro-neurodiversity point of view.  I think it's a big step in the right direction.

I have to go to bed soon, so no time now to read the whole thing, but this jumped out at me from the first page:

Quote:
Next week HBO will air "Autism: The Musical," a documentary about five children with autism who perform in their own show. A week later, Sundance Channel will broadcast "Autism Every Day," a film laying out the challenges faced by families. April 2 marks the first World Autism Awareness Day, a global effort voted into existence by the U.N. General Assembly. Less than two weeks after that, Jon Stewart will host an autism fund-raiser at New York's Beacon Theater, to be aired live on Comedy Central. Among the glittery lineup: Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Conan O'Brien.

I think we should write to the organizers of each of these events (excluding the HBO one, because Autism: The Musical isn't that bad) in protest of these events- especially the Jon Stewart one, which we have the best chance of impacting.

Yes, the Autism Every Day one jumped out at me too.  It doesn't give any info about the Jon Stewart one, but is it safe to say that it will be a fundraiser for Autism Speaks?

I expect so.  There really aren't any american charities are not actively pro-cure; also, last time Comedy Central had an autism fundraiser, it was for autism speaks, so I expect this is sort of the same thing.
