I posted about this a while ago, but my thread got raped, connecting through the native applet, it just says 'connecting to irc.chatautism.com' then 'disconnected'

Connecting through mIRC, I get 'connection terminated by software'

Pika told me on MSN earlier that you changed the port, Gareth, what port are we using now? or do you have any other suggestions? its not my firewall or any other such software, as I tried turning it off, and the chatroom still won't let me in.
6668
For all who are having problems try this command:
/server irc.chatautism.com 6668
I've been having so much trouble that I gave up weeks ago. Tried again just now - and I'm in! didn't have to do anything special.
Typical. I finally get on and no-one else is there. Rolleyes

I don't often wander in, but I thought I'd have a look today for the hell of it.

I was quite amused that the header line is "*** Channel mode is +nt ". *grins*

I saw that too but at the moment I can't even connect to the server. Anyone know any more about that all?

Server is online just can't connect to IRC. I've tried all kinds of ways and as far as I know others also can't connect. (asked someone else to try and connect who even lives in a totally different country)

I somehow can't edit this. I didn't read this thread well enough it was the port problem.

Fixed.
Old schools computers can still not get in IRC.

Not that they ever have.

They still can go on MSN though through http://www.meebo.com
Heh, I use meebo, MSN just broke on me, and refused to work from then on.

Add bitterentropicdemise at hotmail dot co dot uk if you want.
I tried to connect using :

/server irc.chatautism.com 6668
/server aurora.de.chatautism.com 6668

No luck, message says:

Connecting to *hostname*
Disconnected from *hostname*
Just tried using the integral IRC client in opera, for whatever reason, IRC.chatautism.com just won't let me connect, any ideas gareth? I'm not banned from the chatroom am I? I don't think I've done anything wrong that I can think of that would lead to that, but I have no clue whats going on here.
Make sure you have the right port no matter what IRC client you use.

I find the 6668 port odd, as its not accepted standard - 6667 is.  Back in the days of when I was administrating and IRC network 6665-6669 and 7000 were used for client connections, and there was also a port for secure connections.

Thats like putting a HTTP server on port 89

If the data center where your web server was hosted blocked port 80, hosting on port 81 would make sense.
