In Six Feet Under the characters were terrific, as were the story lines. I rarely knew what was going to happen next and I was constantly blown away when it did. For a show with such a large ensemble cast it's amazing that every one of them was solid, there wasn't a weak link amongst them. My favorite character was probably Keith and I found Vanessa and her sister to be the most annoying.
This show did what very few shows or films can do these days; it moved me and got me thinking about my own life and mortality; this, for me, is what made the show great, especially when you consider that the entertainment industry usually trades in the denial of death.
I read a post about the show on another site and a guy wrote: "It is only when we face death and accept our mortality, that we can then be truly grateful for our lives'. I totally agree; being reminded about my mortality is just a reminder to stay grateful for my life, because I know the day will come, when I'm going to look back on what I have now and wish I could have it again.
Who would’ve ever guessed a show about a family of funeral directors could be so life affirming?
I give SFU a 10/10. It was truly inspirational.
