DANDA

Development Adult Neuro-Diversity Association run by and for adults with dyspraxia, AD(H)D, Asperger syndrome etc

Danda holds regular groups in London for people with the above conditions. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month.

Danda is also organising a conference for people with neuro-diversity in London on Saturday 2 July. One of the highlights of the conference will be a talk by Jessica Peers, author of 'Asparagus Dreams', who will be launching and talking about her new book.

Other talks and workshops will include neuro-diversity in the workplace, and an introduction to assertiveness training.

For more details please call Mary on +44 (0)20 7435 7891.
I am at the I.T. Officer for DANDA. We need as many people as we can to come to this. DANDA is the only user-led pan neurodiversity charity in the world.

The date may change as we are having some problems securing the venue.

I'd like to attend but when I looked at my diary I was reminded that I'm playing in a recorder orchestra concert that evening. So I would only be able to attend the morning session (assuming it's all day). My principal interest in the conf is Jessica Peers, because I've read Asparagus Dreams. I wrote to her c/o JKP after reading her book but I never received a reply. Kahless, do you know if Jessica will be hanging around for informal discussion after her talk, or will it be like, say, Angela Browning MP at the Steps conference last September? (She answered 3 questions from a lucky few members of the audience, including one person who wasn't an Aspie, then had to go back to the House of Commons so she couldn't stay for coffee.)
The phrase "people with neurodiversity" sounds very strange to me.

I think of neurodiversity as a category of variation in the human species, like racial or cultural or religious diversity.  I don't see it as a condition limited to only some groups of people.

No one would say, for example, that blacks are "people with racial diversity" but whites are not.

I prefer to use terms such as "neurological minorities" when referring to specific groups of people.
I see what you mean Bonnie, it is an unusual phrase, maybe they are attempting to be very inclusive.
It could be like saying a meet-up for LGBT is for "people with sexualities".
