Well right now its the middle of March and I am planning the courses I'll take for next semester. One of which I've been looking forward to for a whole year

Experience in the Educational Environment 2 . I'll get to be a Special Ed. teacher's helper AND I pick what school I go to. I found a small private elementary school in San Juan that specializes in children within the spectrum. I'm going to check it out during the summer. And if I am lucky and those teachers (and the admin) like me enough I might get to work there after I graduate!
*dances for joy*
Oh I am SO excited I can hardly wait! hehe I just wanted to share that will you all.

That's brilliant news - I'm smiling with your joy! Go for it, best of luck and I hope it all works out!

Thank you very much...
I must admit I'm a bit nervous but I think I'm more exicted than nervous. =)
Yesterday I went to Walmart to buy a few things and I saw a friend there. Her daughter is in the spectrum and goes to this school and she's the one that pointed me to it in the first place.
I can hardly wait for summer to get here! =D

Well done! I am really happy for you, good on you for being so passionate and enjoying your education too. You sound very positive and I'm sure the kids that have you for a teacher will be blessed.

I'm so happy for you! Don't ever underestimate those kids, and don't let the bureaucracy get you down.
Hahaha I'll try not to. Heh especially if its the same bureaucracy that told me when I was in elementary school that I was stupid because I couldnt pay attention in math class and that I was lazy because I was always drawing in my notebooks. (I never listened and now I've a page in DeviantART)
What do you guys think about using dogs ... training them.... to help kids learn better. To build confidence in them? Its been a secret dream of mine ever since I decided to become a Special Education teacher.

Dogs sound a good idea, i know i respond to animals more than humans. But there might be problems with bringing dogs into a school because of allergies etc.
There are various schemes here involving dogs and sometimes cats. One is called Therapets. They visit places like hospitals and homes. I suppose they must get some kind of signed consent re. allergies and so on. I think it's a great thing!
Yeah they get bathed every day... and wear booties and such... uh... and the dogs chosen for that don't shed much hair... if any at all... poodles may be good... and I know golden retrevers have a good reputation as service dogs... =)
OH btw... I talked to the Administrator of the school... and told her of my plans... she said Sure come August give me your permit papers from college and you are welcome"
NOW I REALLY CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT TERM!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: While I was talking to her... a cute little girl came running up to me and gave me a huge hug. I didnt recognize her very much...cause her hair used to be longer but its a little girl that I talked to during the summer... she's an Aspie =) kinda surprised me that she'd remember me like that. Glad she did though

Well done Celebrindal- I'm sure you'll be brilliant! Will you be working with autistic kids? If so that's fantastic because you will be closer to understanding them than NT teachers and are in a real position to build their confidence and help them along.

Thanks... and actually... hehe I dont concider myself an NT... I've been working with Special needs children for years... (most of which was unknowingly done) first my blind friend in first grade... uh.... oh yeah... then my little neighbor who has downs syndrome... then in 7th grade... I was placed in a special ed. school (because of my add) I was bored there since I always finished my work in 10 minutes and it really wasnt for me... the school I mean... so my teachers made an araingement with the elementary school principle, I was to help one of the teachers with two of her students... one had Autism and the other was mentally retarded. I helped her out after lunch and before PE class... =) funny... but that experience is what got me to love kids with special needs and wish to become a teacher
