I looked at Chavs on Wikipedia and I thought, gosh, that's Vanilla Ice!

So they are like white black people who hate black people?

What do chavs have to do with Oi and skinhead music?  Alas, I had a roommate in college in semester 5 that gave me all the British punk, Oi, skinhead, and most of the international metal (Running Wild, Celtic Frost, Witchfinder General, Wytchfynde, WASP, Candlemass, Oz, Pretty Maids, Zodiac Mindwarp, Master-Aria (USSR), Grim Reaper)  I have.

Most of the Skrewdriver he gave me was pure and clean (Antisocial, We Don't Pose, Jailbait, Won't Get Fooled Again), but Thunder in the Cities is borderline.  It is suggestive without calling anyone any names.  The stuff he played with the volume down very low..........  geez, what an education.

As an anticommunist, he wanted me to listen to Will and Reason by Master, gleefully pointing out how Soviet kids were falling asleep in Marxist class, and this was the last attempt to keep the kids inspired in the name of Lenin.

The lyrics are Russian, the only exception to English lyrics all around.  I looked for months, almost a year, and found it under Aria, Valery somebody....

I had a conscience long ago..... I destroyed the old cassettes.

When finances permitted some years ago, I was rebuilding the collections my old college friends gave me (mix tapes, at Shepherd College anyone would enlighten you with a cassette for free, no big deal)- from iTunes at 99 cents each and used CDs at Amazon third party merchants

    * cassette of miscellaneous alternative tracks on the A side and Thomas Dolby The Aliens Ate My Buick on the B side
    * cassette of miscelleaneous alternative and classic rock tracks on both sides, plus other tracks on another cassette
    * let's not forget:

Yes, they are full of hatred and aggression for just about anyone.  Not all chavs are vicious thugs, but of the ones that are, this is the sort of thing they love to do:

I couldn't help but consider how fortunate my generation is to not have clips of our youthful stupidities that could haunt the rest of our lives. I suspect that many of these young people would prefer to forget their chavish past as they get older.  No chance when you put it out there like that. So very, very glad there isn't an old clip floating around of me wearing stacks, tight Olivia Newton-John style black pants, and hair all in little braids.  Ewwww.

I want to see a photo of an elderly chav.

This smells like a fake to me. The bling and hat look completely affected and the facial expression does not seem genuine.

I'll take you at your word.  I am stunned.  My image of the British people is forever sullied. Are all of these middle aged chavs unemployed?

Just to clarify, I did not question Ian's honesty, but he seemed the sort who might pull a prank or two.

pezar, there are so many generalization in that post that there might just be something in there to offend everyone. What an odd world you inhabit. Glad I don't live there.

I live in Marin County, and I can assure you we have our fair share of "ugly, poor people". Our poverty rate is about 10%, which isn't too far below the national average of 12%. I spent most of my childhood in a 1800 square foot house with five other family members.

Flashing your wealth around is also a good way to become poor again. Things I would buy if I was rich: frozen mice, aspen shavings, fossils, aquatic plants (i.e., stuff I already buy anyway).
