I also like the colors alot.
I have no tips except to keep on painting..
Bravo! and encore(s)? ...

Are there any forums on the internet that cater to talentless, dim people who haven't achieved a single thing in their lives? Perhaps I should seek them out.

You are honest, at least.
But jealousy is a poisonous emotion that does you no good at all.
One person posts one painting and suddenly you perceive this site as being exclusively for elite artists? See what I mean? Not what you would think if the green-eyed monster weren't distorting your perception.
It is far better to admire someone for their abilities, be glad for them, and let go. I realise that, in order to do that, you have to find something that you like about yourself.
No matter how many people here pay you compliments, they disappear into the black hole you have created around yourself.
I really feel for you, it must be dreadful to feel so badly about yourself that you disregard all evidence to the contrary.
I wish I knew how to reach you...
I've managed to ruin both drawings and paintings by trying to better the things I'd done by coincidence.
*ahem* *points at link to DeviantArt in signature* Forgetting someone, aren't we?
Actually, I think there's a whole bunch of artists on AFF who don't really advertise that fact. I still get people trickling in to my Autism Pride DA club from AFF.

Oops! But of course... *grins sheepishly*
I always remember the jewelery from your DA site - I completely forgot that you draw as well... Multitalentedness is a good thing. *grins*
Yes.... it's something I cultivate. My goals for this summer include practicing guitar (which I have just begun to learn), learning basic welding techniques, and learning basic sewing so I can begin to make some of my designs.
I currently don't just draw and make jewelry, either... I also do photography, and experiment constantly in many art areas. I have at least one deviation in a huge number of DA categories, something like 30 different categories, I think.
(sorry if I sound like I'm bragging, I don't intend to- but I am proud of it, I think it's OK to be proud of what you're good at!)
Don't worry too much about the medium used - people choose the medium that most suits their style. For example, you've mentioned a few times that you like complex and surreal pieces - and this would lend itself well to drawing.
I, on the other hand, learned by doing flash art pieces & 3D modeling - and so as far as physical artwork goes, painting is the natural progression from there.
I'm not trying to compete with you here. In fact, you are the more experienced artist here, and I would like to learn from you.
How do you find inspiration?
Well, I can always give my feedback, but I'm an amateur/unorthodox artist at best (if you could call me an artist, even.) I don't think I can offer a useful critique because I don't personally follow any "rules" myself--rules as in the kind of stuff you'd be taught in art school.
That said, I think your painting is good because you were able to effectively convey space--e.g. the orange juice container was nicely rendered (you even did the shadow well.) And also, your use of color is bold and innovative, esp. for the mundane subject matter.
Other than that--as I have almost no experience in painting--I cannot offer much, except to say that I'm impressed.
How do I find inspiration? Good question. I'm not sure I could describe it other than to say I've always had this "natural drive" to express myself creatively, and I've got to satisfy it in some way or other.

Sorry, if I can be completely honest, I consider this to be vanity and pride. I cannot boast about experimenting in 30 different categories--but you can, apparently.
I am also upset that you were enthusiastic about my artwork, offered to help, and I showed it to you and you offered advice for me to take art classes, etc. With your 30 categories of talent--do you think I'd dare tell you to take art classes?

Ah, thankya - I didn't really follow any rules for this one either, except for a couple of shadowing tips I vaguely remembered from high school (i.e. things further away are darker). The rest was just guesswork, so I'm glad it turned out.
I know what you mean about the natural drive - I think that's half the battle in these sorts of things, really.
Do you tend to draw in line with what you're feeling at any given time, or based on experiences you've had during the day?
I think the inspiration part is going to be the hardest for me in starting off. I think I'll be alright once I have an idea, but I have absolutely no idea what to do next - everything I think of seems like something of a cliche at the moment.
How did you first start off? Or was it long enough ago that you can't really remember?
I was probably drawing since the age of 2 or 3. It's always been with me. I drew nonstop until the age of about 11, then my interest in computers took over. Then I picked it back up at about 18-19, dropped it again, and picked it up again at 24 onward. (now 26.)
It's one of my very few talents and something I've done for much of my life (never properly, I might add--I haven't been able to learn correct techniques, for whatever reason). So it's a disappointment when I show people my work and receive lukewarm response. I know it's a lot to ask, but I need assistance in finding a way to use my ability productively.
For right now, just drawing for myself and having a few other people see it, is not good enough for me. I want some kind of utility for my work. But no one has the time to help me.

Actually, you're the person I was most hoping for feedback from. I don't know too many artists, and on this site I think there's only you, Nyanchan & Erkolos - at least, that's all that I remember right now.

Hey, I'm an artist too! I like this picture and think it shows good use of colour and space.
(I don't usually read this forum, so sorry if it's obvious that you have.)
